Truth. I'm now expecting an upwards trend in the next episodes.
Also, it was good that they didn't dwell on the FL's divorce case the entire series. I was expecting they'll do that, which is a common style in #Kdrama. But surprisingly, it was only part of the character's development and growth. For a divorce attorney and first time writer, she's doing great!

A “barangay” is the smallest political unit in the Philippines.

The closest in American context is a “town”. A gated village or subdivision is usually considered a separate barangay as well (but there are cases where it is not if the village/subdivision is too big to be a single “barangay”).

Visiting the Philippines? Here are some words you should remember:
1. "Kumusta po" = How are you / How do you do. It's both a greeting and a real question. Since you're a foreigner, Filipinos will take it as a greeting.
It's polite and formal.
* "Kumusta po sila" : very very polite and formal
* "Kumusta po kayo" : very polite and formal
* "Kumusta po" : polite and formal (use this)
* "Kumusta" : formal
* "Kamusta po sila": very very polite but casual
* "Kamusta po kayo" : very polite but casual
* "Kamusta po" : polite and casual
* "Kamusta" : very casual
* "Hoy", etc. : very very casual (don't use this unless you're close friends)
2. "Saan po ito?" Or "S'an po ito?" = Where is this?
3. "Paano po pumunta dito?" = How do you go here? (Pa-a-no)
4. "Magkano po ito?" Or "Magkano po dito?" = How much is this?
Using "ito" is casual. While "dito" makes it formal. Either is fine since you used "po", it's both polite/respectful. But "dito" is preferred for new learners of Filipino or visiting foreigners.
Oh, it's "di-to" not "ditto". "Di" as in "did", "to" as in "Tom". "Di-to".
5. "Magkano po?" = How much?
6. "Kailan po aalis?" Or "Kailan po tayo aalis?" = When are we leaving.
The former is generic, the context is usually understood if used correctly. For example, you asked a ferryman, "Kailan po aalis?" The context is understood you're referring to when the ferry will leave, so you can remove "tayo" ("we") to simplify your sentence.
7. "Masarap" in reference to food = good, delectable.
8. "Malinamnam" = umami (savory); rich in flavor.
9. "Mahal" = expensive; love (depends on context/usage)
10. "Wala na bang tawad?" = No more discounts?
11. "Tulong!" Or "Saklolo!" = Help!
12. "Tawag" = call
13. "Telepono" = Telephone
Vowel pronunciations are:
* A as in "ah". It's "ah-pple" not "ey-pple"
* E as in "eh", like "bed".
* I as in "in", like "indigo" or "fin".
* O as in "or", like "Oreo".
* U as in "hu" or "ru". "Rudimentary".
Note: simplest and basic form, and examples only.
Words are also syllabic. If there are two vowels or continents together, those are generally pronounced separately in syllables.
Mata = ma-ta = eye
Pilipinas = pi-li-pi-nas = Philippines
Maganda = ma-gan-da
There are other pronunciation considerations but those are level 2 or level 3 already. If you're only visiting, it's fine if you don't know those.
Like: "baba" and "basa". Depending on how you pronounce it, the meaning can change.

I think the announcement of @npub13fk…z5hw about being able to find anyone from the #Fediverse using your #Flipboard account was too early.
Since the announcement, it still isn't working for my account.
1. Tried desktop UI
2. Tried Android app
3. Checked Google Play, no update push
4. Checked every setting possible, everything is the same.
5. Tried searching using URL or webfinger, nothing shows up either.
Since I'm from the #Philippines my suspicion here is that it is not actually available for everyone, rather, it is only available for certain regions.

The way I understand it, “next weekend” if said on a Thursday, using the date example above, is August 17 and 18.
Not the weekend that is a day or two away; but the after it.
If it was said on a Tuesday, it naturally comes across for me as “this weekend”.
If said on a Wednesday, I have to clarify. LOL.

I saw a CNA report yesterday re: the recent 7.1-M #earthquake in Japan and I heard them use “omega quake” to refer to Japan issuing a potential 9.0-M #megaquake within the week.
It sounded ominous. ^^;;
I didn't understand the exact context but the news anchor only used it once and it was “mega quake” the rest of the report. So, I don't know why they even said “omega quake”.
Anyway… what this post is really about is the importance of being ready, be it omega #quake or megaquake.
The cause of the 7.1-M quake was that the Philippine plate slipped under another plate, and based on Japan's records, the few times it happened in the past, a megaquake happened within the week.
The #Philippines itself, like Japan, is situated near these subduction zones. Not only that, we are actually in-between two subduction zones and on top of one!
In other words, and this should be reminder and a warning for all of us, no matter where you are in the Philippines, we're in a ticking 7.0-M ‒ 9.0-M “quake bomb”. However, unlike Japan, we have very, very few quake resilient buildings and homes, and our rescue network/system are yet to be tested. (In fairness, they've considered a lot of technologies like mesh networking.)
So, like the Japanese people, we Filipinos should prepare ourselves as well. We're too focused on “The West Valley Fault System” (formerly known as the “Marikina Fault Line”) when there are also the Manila Trench (West) and the Philippine Trench (East), not to mention thee Philippine Fault that cuts through the middle of the entire country.
These two trenches can produce between 8.0-M – 9.0-M. Subduction zones are very dangerous. Compare it to The West Valley Fault, where this talk of “The Big One” is always based on, they estimate it can produce up to 7.2-M.
While subduction-based quakes are rare in the Philippines… it doesn't mean we're safe from it. It is when we think we're “safe” that increases injuries and deaths. Prepare for the worst. Be alert. Keep a sound mind, so when disaster strikes, we're not panicking (which is contiguous).

To add to that, you don't have to say, “I'm sorry for your loss.” It's understandable, but we say/ask instead, “How are you?”
A typical conversation goes like this:
Family: Hey! How are you? You came from work?
Visitor: Hi! Yeah, I heard it earlier today, sorry I'm wearing black/red.
Family: That's fine, don't worry about it.
Visitor: How are you?
Family: Fine. I'm reserving my tears for the burial this weekend *laughs*
Visitor: *laughs*
Family: Come, come, we have food/snacks inside. Person B and Person C is inside. Or, if you want you can see him/her first (referring to the dearly departed)? Here, here. Look at him/her, so peaceful.
Then it's chit-chat. It can go from updating each other about our lives to remembering the good things about the dearly departed.
It goes back to solemn atmosphere if there's a religious prayer service. 30 minutes for Pentecostal and born-again; can be up to 60 minutes for Catholics and Protestants. (And if you just arrived, you can eat while the service is on-going, if you want, or stay outside if you don't subscribe to the particular religion). It's not rude to do so.
What is generally considered rude is playing loud music, especially upbeat non-religious music. Or, talking loudly while inside the venue, while someone is paying they respects (looking at the dearly departed; standing before the casket) but after that it's fine to talk loud again. ^^;;
I mean, kids can run around, play. Adults can talk about anything, even laugh.
It's very casual usually. ^_^

White top is common. For bottom, there isn't exactly any preference, shorts are fine even. ^_~
Some families also announce what to wear for burial day. If a family want it to be formal, it's when they inform everyone to come in semi-formal attire on top of wearing white tops. However, most Filipino families are fine with any bottoms as long as it's white tops.
Even footwear, if you want to come in slippers, that's fine too. ^_^
In case you were already outside when you heard, like coming from the office, whatever you're wearing is fine. We generally explain when we arrive; or the grieving family immediately asks, “you came from work? Thank you for coming, it's probably out of your way.”

It still amazes me this particular Baybayin card gets shared a lot when there are better ones available made by others. It was even used in a thesis, and also included in school textbooks, and other literature publications.

It wasn't an easy watch. It's dark. The “friends” “connection” is also disturbing in a way that you do not know who your friends are and thus who you can actually trust. As human beings, connections are important, and the deeper it is, the harder it becomes to see them break one-by-one. The betrayal can become too much.
However, they did well in the finale episode. They beautifully weaved that “friends” “connection” back to the light where it should be. They showed that friendships are real, and it breaks when money and greed gets the best of us. But, if we can get over it, a friendship that was broken can be restored and it's deeper than it originally was because of what you all have to go through.
Building long-lasting relationships really is complex and complicated. The only way to truly permanently glue that friendship and relationship is when it breaks and you fight. This is where most relationships, even between partners/spouses fail, how can you all get back up?
Yet, as this show demonstrated what it actually is in real life, once you get back up and reconcile your differences, that is when true friendship, true relationship, a true family-ness, begins, and it can never be broken again (well… maybe if one chose to break it there's nothing that can be done about it).
A good example are the soldiers who've faced wars. They are so tight-knit, you can never break them. The reason is the same, they went through the most grueling things a human being can ever face… death, killing, justice, mental/psychological/philosophical challenges, and many more. They understand each other in ways most people will never understand. It “connects” them.
Morals of the story:
1. Choose wisely who you surround yourself with; most especially who you call “friends”.
2. When everything comes crashing down with your relationships, aim to reconcile. It will truly “connect” you in ways no one can imagine (unless they went through something similar).

Yep, I handle the backups myself. Since I use a combination of KeePassXC (desktop) / KeePassDX (Android) and Cryptomator, the data are safe. I just have to remember my method of decryption to open it. I also upload to an encrypted cloud storage.
I just set a random schedule on when I update the backup copies, especially the physical backups. The physical backups are my last resort in case I lose access to the PC or online backups.
For physical backups, if one wants to be extra careful, they can store it in a secured vault service. Most important for physical backups, only the user should know about it.
Depending on your needs, you can remove one layer or method; or add another layer or method of security. Or, keep the “high profile” accounts separately from your regular accounts, that way you can store them differently as well.
