Hey. SEGA AGES Phantasy Star is on sale for $3.14 CAD on Switch and if you ever had an interest in the game you should grab it. It's got an automapper for dungeons and some general QoL that make it the definitive version.

It's amazing how much of my life I've just stayed quiet because I didn't want to annoy anyone.
I'd hold off on posting stuff. Hell! I'd even hold off on retweeting/retooting/sharing stuff I liked because that was still me making noise.
I was trained that way my whole life. I annoyed people and they let me know. And I spent most of my life feeling really alone. Of course I did. Sharing yourself is the primary way of letting people know who you are and if they'd even want to associate with you.
So, here I am, nearing my 40th birthday and only just now feeling comfortable just broadcasting all of me into the world. I don't care if I annoy some people. Those weren't my people anyways.

I think I agree with you, except I don't put the blame all on Steam, because to my understanding, they were told to do so by govs. They've kept the game out in other regions, which shows they're not trying to wash their hands of it entirely.

I haven't played the game (not my thing), but I've watched all of the promotional videos for it and honestly... the game's fine. The only bit that kind of made me uncomfortable was the glorification of the execution of soldiers on their knees... buuut... I'm uncomfortable with that kinda shit all the time.
(Not gonna lie, janky physics and fucking slow-mo flying through the air made me laugh with delight)
I guess the problem comes from a more recent update that quasi-recreates one of the attacks on January 7th. It does not involve civilians, but the developer is very clear that this is inspired by the real conflict.
But a lot of games do this kind of historical fiction thing. We've got games that let you play as the Confederates, or Nazis, or any number of groups that have historically been shitheels. Is it a case of "too soon"? Or is this all just a bias because "brown people bad"?
I'm torn because emotionally, I don't like this game; but when I actually think about it, I can't actually point to what's wrong with it. From an artistic perspective... it's an expression of anger. I've written songs that are violent and scary to express my rage, what makes a game different?
I think Steam is required to abide by laws, and I don't fault them for delisting it.
Yeah. I dunno. Thoughts?

I've been kinda simmering over an interaction I had like 4-5 years ago. I said I'd like to see a mainline Legend Of Zelda game where you play as Zelda. I got jumped (figuratively) by a few guys who didn't see the point, it's always been Link, and they didn't want it.
So, me, significantly more insecure, trying to be friendly, discussed it with them and we got to a point where it'd be ok if there was at least a choice between Link and Zelda.

These fucking babyass shriveldicks can cope for one damn game where they're not catered to. I don't want a choice. I want a game that Link is fucking dead. D-E-D, Dead. It's all up to Zelda. We've had to put up with lifetimes of male as default, taking in media that centers around men. I'm tired of the consolation prize of "Well, we'll add a gender selection for you". Why is it always (hyperbole for effect) male character, or a choice?
You can deal with one game that's not all about serving you.
