National Unity leader Benny Gantz [that’s the rational Israeli politician according to Biden 🤗] said that if #Hezbollah doesn't cease its attacks against Israel, "Lebanon needs to go up in flames."
In an interview with Channel 12, Gantz stated that despite leaving the government, his party would still back him on actions of this sort. He reiterated that he believes the decision not to strike Hezbollah in October was the right one. "If you make a preemptive move, you're guaranteed to start a war," Gantz said, adding that it's good Israel decided to prioritize the southern front.

#Germany / Germany’s new leftist party and AfD rival makes strides in EU election
While the #AfD still led in some eastern German states according to polls mentioned, the #BSW managed to get 6% of the vote nationally in these EU elections after just being founded 5 months ago. In some eastern states which are AfD strongholds, the BSW even took a comfortable third place with up to 15% of the vote.

It just happens that BSW, led by Sahra Wagenknecht, is noted to have criticized #Israel more vocally, calling #Gaza an "open-air prison" and accusing Israel of "ruthless warfare" and "war crimes", though still affirming support for Israel as a state.

[cont'd] Hamas: The soldiers who participated in the Nuseirat rescue operation disguised themselves as displaced persons
Hamas's information office said that the soldiers who participated in the hostage rescue operation yesterday entered the #Nuseirat camp in civilian vehicles and under disguise, pretending to be displaced persons. According to the office, during the operation, 89 inhabited houses and homes were damaged.
On social media, pictures were posted yesterday of a civilian truck, appearing to be a truck for transferring humanitarian aid, which was allegedly used by Israeli security forces to reach the center of the refugee camp.
According to the testimony of a Palestinian resident who was injured during the rescue operation, the Israeli soldiers wore civilian clothes and looked like displaced persons fleeing the bombardment, and it seems this is how they managed to reach the buildings where the hostages were being held.
The Arabic spokesman for the IDF, Avichay Adraee, denied the claims and said that the #IDF did not use aid vehicles, nor did it use the American naval jetty during the operation.

A close ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Cohen personally led the #Mossad's efforts as part of a decade-long campaign by Israel to undermine the ICC probe.
The efforts escalated in 2019-2020 with Cohen allegedly showing Bensouda photos of her husband taken covertly and suggesting the ICC probe would hurt her career.

#Spain and #Ireland are the largest and most politically influential #EU nations to recognize Palestinian statehood, joining a few other European countries that have already done so.
While largely symbolic, the three nations hope their move will gather momentum and spur more EU countries to follow suit. The #UK, #Australia and some other EU states have indicated they could also recognize Palestinian statehood. #Israel boycott / FIFA to seek legal advice on Palestinian proposal to suspend Israel from international soccer
The Palestinian request for suspending #Israel was not rejected outright, but rather postponed pending a legal assessment process and a subsequent #FIFA Council meeting within the next two months.
Instead of putting it to a vote at the FIFA Congress in Bangkok, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the matter will be reviewed by independent legal experts first. Their assessment and recommendations will then be forwarded to the FIFA Council, which will convene an extraordinary meeting before July 20, 2024, to make a decision based on the legal review.
Unlike an academic boycott, a suspension from international soccer would have a broader and more visible impact on Israel, as soccer has a wider appeal and following, possibly making a suspension from FIFA a more impactful measure Netanyahu’s supporters will find very difficult to live with.

Well, granted, he probably doesn't read Arabic (other than Uskut and other such dehumanizing words they bark at Palestinians on a regular basis), but then again, Israel's most notorious Historians, self-proclaimed experts on Arabic culture and mentality, like Benny Morris, don't either.
For me, it reads in the context of #domicide. Nothing in Arabic is worth preserving. Problem is, big chunk, and some of the most important works of Jewish theology were of course written in Arabic (or Judeo-Arabic dialects i.e. Maimonides).
There's zero possibility it's fake, as IDF acknowledged.

More than 200 staff members of European Union institutions and agencies have signed an open letter expressing grave concerns over the EU's response to the humanitarian crisis in #Gaza amid the ongoing conflict between #Israel and Palestinian militants.

#ICJ / What's expected on Friday?
The International Court of Justice will announce a decision on potential orders against Israel regarding its ongoing attack on Gaza, specifically in Rafah.
Israel fears the court will order a halt to the war, or at least the Rafah operation, due to worsening humanitarian conditions. Such an order would put Israel in a difficult position - defying it could lead to international sanctions, though the U.S. would likely support regardless of the legality of its actions in Gaza, as it did so far.
#Maariv is reporting that according to the assessment of "diplomatic officials," the likelihood that the court will accept South Africa's request and order a halt to the war in Gaza tomorrow, is not very high, but nonetheless, this time it is "realistic and certainly not negligible."
If this scenario materializes - Israel will be dependent on the U.S. vetoing the order. But according to assessments in Israel, in the current situation the American veto is not guaranteed, and it is possible that Washington will condition it on Israel taking one action or another. For example, in exchange for Israeli agreement to the Saudi initiative.

The #IDF attacked the #Gaza Strip during the war with the assistance of an #AI-based data system called "Lavender", which incriminated 37,000 men as potential #Hamas and Islamic Jihad (#IJ) activists. According to an investigation published by the local news site "Sikha Mekomit" publised also in The Guardian, in addition to using this system, intelligence sources stated that the army had set quotas for killing uninvolved civilians before certain assassinations.
According to two sources, in the first weeks of the war, the army approved strikes on junior operatives that could kill 15-20 civilians in addition to the targets. They said that attacks on such targets were usually carried out with "stupid bombs" that destroyed entire homes and killed their inhabitants.
[...] “This is unparalleled, in my memory,” said one intelligence officer who used Lavender, adding that they had more faith in a “statistical mechanism” than a grieving soldier. “Everyone there, including me, lost people on October 7. The machine did it coldly. And that made it easier.”

[cont’d] more information in harretz’s English edition from earlier in the day describing the deliberate killing of aid workers, according to “defense sources”. Reminder, IDF had the coordinates of the convoy and knew in advance its destination. This seems to suggest that a decision was made that a “terrorist” should be killed at the expense of everyone in the convoy.
[…] At some point, when the convoy was driving along the approved route, the war room of the unit responsible for security of the route ordered the drone operators to attack one of the cars with a missile.
[…] Some of the passengers were seen leaving the car after it was hit and switching to one of the other two cars. They continued to drive and even notified the people responsible that they were attacked, but, seconds later, another missile hit their car.
[…] The third car in the convoy approached, and the passengers began to transfer to it the wounded who had survived the second strike – in order to get them out of danger. But then a third missile struck them. All seven World Central Kitchen volunteers were killed in the strike.

There’s nothing much to add. At this point it does seem Israel is doing its best to sow chaos by killing foreign aid workers; as well as locals it agreed could assist in securing the deliveries. Only question remaining is what is the the #ICJ going to do about this?
