I recently tried watching the TV series, What We Do In The Shadows, but found it dreary and couldn't go past episode 1. However the feature film of the same name was a really, really good comedy.
Now I'm watching Ghosts (2021) and Season 1 is so far great! Nice pacing, good humour. At first I thought it was adapted from the 1990 film but now learned there was a British version. I guess I should look for it.

I missed agriculture class at school so when I saw these beauties, I was fascinated. A person I was with said it is called tick berry and is poisonous to humans and animals, but not to birds, and the scifi writer in me imagined a war in which birds use this flower to eradicate pests (humans!) and save Earth.

It just struck me that its a loooong time since I read a book labelled No.1 NYT Bestseller list. And now that I think about it those books tend to be published by the big guys, and they are always not very deep reads. More like "popcorn movies". A lot of what I read these days is sci-fi stuff, maybe popular in the genre but I don't see them on that list. A lot are published by small press.

platforms like ko-fi and patreon seem to be better than indiegogo and kickstarter, as you can build a fan base who will pledge to support you beyond this one project. You can still make a campaign targeting October, and some people can stay to give you mothly donations....

The joys of walking to work. Yesterday, I misstepped and my foot got sucked in mud. I pulled it out, but the leg being a little weak mud took the shoe off, so my socks got muddied too. I reach work and while we are constructing a film set someone (not sure who yet) feels sorry for me and washes my shoes. Four hours later I want to go back home, but I can't because my shoes are still wet! I didn't know whether to be mad or to laugh. We mostly laughed it off.

I cross two of these bridges when I take a short cut from home to my film studio. But its a legit bridge, on a legit footpath that connects two (villages?) There is a swamp in a valley, with a lot of gardens, and on either hills are homes and stuff. I stay on one hill and have to cross the valley to the other hill to work. Thing is, walking takes me about 10 minutes through this path. If I used a car or bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) on official routes, it takes about the same time. So I walk. 😊

Started watching Abbott Elementary since I keep hearing it's a comedy, but after two episodes I'm yet to have a laugh, not even a small smile at any of the jokes (apart from an eww when the toilet spews stuff at the teacher) either I lost my sense of humor or I'm not the target audience.

The cost of war, seen from a very weird point of view. We used to learn in history class how European women entered the workforce during the world wars, but reading about it focused on a particular occupation is refreshingly insightful. Lots of story ideas here. Next time I'm telling a war story, it's from the point of view of a woman who has to drive a city bus so her old mother doesn't miss Wednesday bingo club games ;-))

@npub19kd…t56d has the worst interface, as in, how am I supposed to type the email?
Meanwhile, I have to zoom in on firefox all the way to be able to have any readable text, though I set the fontsize on the proton settings to the largest possible. It's worst on their app, as there is no option to enlarge the text.

Is it just me, or has YouTube finally managed to block uBlock? On firefox this morning, desktop version, on LinuxMint, every video I play runs for only two seconds before freezing. They play well on Android, though, firefox+ublock, just not on desktop. I wonder whats up.
