The cost of war, seen from a very weird point of view. We used to learn in history class how European women entered the workforce during the world wars, but reading about it focused on a particular occupation is refreshingly insightful. Lots of story ideas here. Next time I'm telling a war story, it's from the point of view of a woman who has to drive a city bus so her old mother doesn't miss Wednesday bingo club games ;-))
