Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) on 01 Oct, as seen from the Sacramento mountains of southern New Mexico.
1st image is a stack of 38 5-second exposures. The trees in the horizon are blurred as the camera follows the motion of the rising sky.
2nd image is a single exposure.
3rd image has the sky gradient flattened and color saturation greatly boosted. The dust tail is yellow and extends across the frame.
4th image is a closeup of the coma and inner tail. You can see that the comet and dense central dust cloud may be very bright, but that it also casts a shadow in the inner tail.
Put a red circle around 12 Oct on your calendar. That evening this comet will show up in the evening sky after sunset. If it doesn't break apart and melt, it may be an easy naked eye object in evening twilight.

Sierra Blanca peak shows max green in late monsoon season.
It was a very transparent morning, and the polarizer really cut through what little haze was in the air for the 30-mile view of this mountain in southern New Mexico.

From my limited experience and travels, there appear to be considerable regional/national differences in Spanish. Spanish in Texas is different than Spanish in Mexico, Colombia, etc.
I contrast that with my Russian studies.
The iron fist of the Soviet Union made damn sure that everyone studied and spoke Moscow Russian.

Comet C/2023 H2 (Lemmon) on 12 November.
The comet has just recently passed closest to Earth, so its apparent motion is near maximum.
This is a stack of almost 70 images, each exposure being 30 seconds.
The comet is crossing the milky way in Aquila (so many star trails!), and I'm impressed that the stacking software always determined an accurate centroid on the comet's nucleus. Even when the comet passed next to a star, the software tracked the comet's location quite well.
The faint tail extends up and to the left from the nucleus.

I have been known to take a spade bit and grind down the sides for a custom hole size.
Spade bits are relatively inexpensive, but their holes are not quite as smooth as Forstner bits make.

07 Sept - part deux
Two views, 135mm lens...clouds, haziness, moonlight on clouds.
It's a #Mood
This is a stack of 154 images (1.5 seconds exposure) when the comet was not obscured by clouds, and morning twilight was not too bright.
This is an example of what you can do in a dark sky, with relatively simple equipment (fixed tripod, many short exposures.)
Friday will probably be my last chance for this morning apparition. In six days or so, the comet will be very, very low in the west right after sunset.

What is your source of water for your home/family? A well? Do you have any way to monitor the health of your well...level of the aquifer you tap into?

IR weather satellite view of the southwest corner of New Mexico. All the small black dots are active forest fires. Some are across the state line in eastern Arizona.
Red circles and ellipses added around each active fire, or each cluster of nearby active fires.
The fires are approximately 175 miles west of me, and I can see the smoke on the horizon.

Are there any screen grab/screenshot apps/software that don't just capture the image, but also capture the alt text?
If I download/save an image that contains alt text, do common image file formats (jpg, gif, and so on) save the alt text as metadata?
Overall, I'm looking for ways to make alt text more transportable, shareable, and savable across platforms, instances, devices, OS's, etc.

Summer Milky Way, fisheye lens looking straight up.
The mottled texture of the summer milky way is brightest at the bottom of the frame, but extends up to the top of the frame. Stars are scattered throughout the image, but at the horizon there are fewer stars and the sky background is a bit brighter. To the right are some low clouds, illuminated from below by a nearby city.
Tech info: Sony a6300 camera. ISO 1600, 30 seconds. Fixed tripod. 6.5mm circular fisheye lens, f/2. Post processing boosted contrast and boosted blue channel to make sky background neutral in tone for aesthetic reasons.

The interior of the Shaffer Hotel and Dining Room in Mountainair, New Mexico. It was built in 1923.
It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The ornate folk art ceiling has various patterns and shapes on the ceiling. You may think you see the Nazi swastika, but it's a Navajo symbol, sometimes called "whirling logs," that represents healing, and can face either left or right.

Moon and Venus last night.
First shot is in bright twilight. Second shot is a half hour later in dark twilight, and longer exposure to show earthshine.
Tonight the moon will be a bit higher than Venus. Easy to find in the western sky about 20 - 30 minutes after sunset.
