@npub1g0t…tvm4 It’s classism, plain and simple. You can also find these “dangerous” ultra-processed ingredients in Haute cuisine. There are entire online stores with them, such as the Modernist Pantry. Xantham gum is a standard in my pantry.
It’s the fat, salt, sugar, and calories that are killing us. Processed food is made for longer shelf life, and travel, which often means concentrating these factors.
But the uproar about it is straight up classism.

@npub1ccn…czwu @npub1pfv…fepy We can’t win this one. We have a lot of high end manufacturing tied up in Taiwan. A war would be devastating. The best we can hope for is a peaceful transfer of power. Our best hope was economic leverage through the TPP, and that failed to coalesce. This is definitely not worth it.
I suspect this is one motivation for the CHIPS act. We NEED to have our own manufacturing of high end electronics for national security reasons.
