There is very little that could be considered redeemable in this film except for a cute dog who is the hero of the movie because all the human characters are cartoonishly inept. But it doesn't stop there: this blockbuster smash hit also contains continuity errors and lousy special effects.
Highly recommended.

@npub1jr9…thts I didn't even need one, really. I just installed bottles, created a new bottle, went into the settings and changed compatibility from Windows 10 to Windows 7, then ran the set up exe with Bottles. That was it, it just worked.

Wow, #Bottles is incredible. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is an old game that is pretty hard to get running these days. Even on modern versions of Windows, it has it's issues. I just made a Gaming bottle, set it to "Windows 7" compatibility mode, and installed the game, and it launched immediately and runs with basically no issues (a couple small framedrops during the heavy scene transitions in the tutorial level). This is really impressive.
I will have to do some more experimentation, but #Linux might be the place to play old #Windows games now. 0.o

I didn't expect Buddy Daddies to have such a great ending. 😭🤧
I thought there would be a season 2 to look forward to, but it really seems like they kept it to 12 solid episodes. I didn't really get "hooked" until 3 or 4 episodes in, but I'm really glad I stuck with it. Def one of the best 2023 #anime I've seen.
It ends with a Christmasy episode, so if X-Mas is your jam and you want a really solid short anime series to watch that is seasonally relevant and somehow manages to blend very sweet, wholesome comedy with stylized hyperviolence, then I would recommend Buddy Daddies. lol It's a weird dynamic, but it works.

What a year it's been. I know that it's not quite over, but as we get closer to the new year, I can't help but spend more time reflecting. My life doesn't look too terribly different from the outside compared to this time last year, but it's a completely different experience inside.
I have learned so much about myself and life. I've pushed back on my negative core beliefs, I've challenged some of my most steadfast perceptions, and I've never been so connected to my emotions in all my life. I've learned new ways to express myself and communicate. I've made difficult decisions, and confronted fear and heart break, and most amazingly of all, I read multiple books! Like... what?!
I was in a really bad place for a while there, and while I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go, I feel like I have begun forming a really solid foundation for a happy life. I am finding every week that I'm a little kinder to myself, I'm discovering more of my joy and passion, my wounds are healing, and I'm that much more hopeful. I'm so, so grateful for all of the support I've had that allowed me to take these strides.
This coming year, I hope to work on my circumstances. This year was all about reclaiming my independence and reacquainting me with myself, so next year will be about connecting. I want to find meaningful employment, to begin building a life of purpose, to connect with more people and spend more quality time with those that I care about, to play some live music again, to do some volunteering, maybe go on a date or two, make some new friends, maybe try out some ADHD meds, and maybe even spend a little more time in nature.
The last few days, I have been overwhelmed with a mix of excitement, and doubt, and gratitude, and anxiety, and warmth, and loneliness, and love. I kinda feel like I might explode, but I am living into it because it wasn't all that long ago that I had trouble feeling anything at all. It's really beautiful, and this has been the happiest holiday season I've had in a long time.
Honestly, this probably should have been a journal entry and not a social media post, but there's something cathartic about putting a message out into the world, you know? So thank you for reading. In the spirit of connecting: what are you looking forward to in 2024? What do you hope to accomplish? What did you get from 2023? I'd love to hear about it. 🙂

Hey #PCBuilders, I have an RTX 2070 Super and since I'm a Linux gamer 98% of the time, I've been thinking about going team red. I found a dude who might be down to trade me a Radeon VII for my 2070S... is that a good deal or a bad deal?
Linux compatibility should be way better, and it seems like performance is comparable, but idk about raytracing performance and I've heard the R VII can be pretty loud.

Because it's the holidays, I'm sharing my magnificent #HotCocoa #recipe that I totally stole by combining a couple recipes online and some of my own know-how from my glory days as a barista.
Here's how it's done:
Heat 1 cup of milk* (I use Oatmilk because lactose can't handle me 😎), either in the microwave if you're feeling lazy or on the stovetop while stirring constantly until desired heat. If you like it cooler, I would recommend making it pretty hot so the cocoa mixture will dissolve well and then allowing it to cool. Ideally, you wanna shoot for heating the milk to ~160F, but you can go as hot as 190F-ish without scalding it if you are attentive and keep stirring. By the time you drink it, it will ideally be cooled to around ~135F, or to preference.
Note: I'm sorry I don't speak metric--not because it's not a better system, I'm just an ignorant American.
* In a mug, combine 2 Tbsp granulated sugar, 1.5 Tbsp cacao powder (very fine raw cacao powder is best, but if you have acid reflux, you can totally use dutched cocoa powder or just Hershey's cocoa powder if it's what you have on hand, though it may not combine as smoothly), and a pinch of salt (table salt is cool, but kosher sea salt is 💸). Mix thoroughly.
* Pour 1/4C or less of the hot milk into the mug AS you are stirring with a fork. Stir until it's as smooth as possible, then slowly add the rest of the milk while continuously stirring.
* Add a tiiiny splash (maybe 1/2 tsp at most?) of vanilla extract OR peppermint extract (don't use both, it's overwhelming) and stir it in. Optionally, you can stir it in with a cinnamon stick or peppermint stick and leave the stick in That'sWhatSheSaid.
Top with marshmallows or whipped cream* and--optionally--sprinkle a bit of pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cloves, etc.), OR cinnamon, OR cardamom, AND/OR a fancy little drizzle of chocolate sauce.
And THE MOST important thing: make it with love. Pour your soul into the artistry of the process, trust your instincts, and believe in yourself. You can do this, I know you can. You are a shining light in this world and you can do anything you put your mind to if only you are tenacious enough to persevere. I love you.
Anyway, that's how you make hot cocoa. ☕

I heard an interview today with a woman named Loretta J. Ross, and I think she is my new hero. Like, what an absolute bad-ass she is. She is a lifelong activist/humanitarian, and someone that has intentionally repurposed unthinkable traumas into a force for good and helped a lot of people along the way.
I feel like every sentence she says could be it's own soundbite. The way she speaks is so eloquent and profound, and she does not mince her words. I think I swore to myself out loud several times listening to this interview because what she said hit me so hard. I teared up, I laughed, I was thoroughly engaged.
I am going to be reading up on her and her work this week, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this interview in case anyone else needs an emotional gut-punch from an extraordinary human.

Trying out #Wayland on #Fedora39 with an RTX 2070s, and the new #Nvidia 545 driver update actually makes it usable! 😮
It's still not as smooth as X11. Dragging windows around on the desktop feels a bit jittery (even at 144hz refresh rate) and elements of windows will just randomly flash transparency when moving or resizing, but I'm not getting horrible graphical glitches and I can actually game on this! Overall, I'm impressed. I hope #Nvidia continues to make itself more compatible with Wayland, and that they add NV-Control support for Wayland so apps like #GWE will work.

There's a coffee place not terribly far from me called "Kelly Latte's" that has been around since I was a kid.
I went there yesterday, there was no one behind me in line, and I was talking to the barista, so I finally found my opportunity to ask the question I've always had about that place for 15+ years.
I asked, "so, is the name Kelly Latte's because it's insinuating that the owner's last name is Latte?"
They were like, "what?"
So I said, "Well, it's not Kelly's Latté, meaning that Kelly owns the establishment that makes lattés, and it's not Kelly Lattés as in Kelly makes the Lattés. It's Kelly Latte's, possesive, indicating that the woman who owns the business is named Kelly Latte, like her last name is Latté."

If you're perusing the #Steam Autumn sale looking for an inexpensive game that you can get lost in for many hours, I gotta recommend #Necesse. I've logged 25 hours in the last week, and I had to summon all of my willpower to pry myself away from it to go to bed tonight. I can tell I'm going to put a lot more hours into this game. lol
If you're into Minecraft or Terraria, Stardew Valley and other farming sims, Rimworld or other colony management games, and maybe even factory games (Satisfactory, Mindustry, Factorio, etc.), you should give this one a look. It's $5 on sale, and I kinda feel guilty for paying so little for it. lol
The game is in EA, but it's already got plenty of content. If they abandoned it tomorrow, I'd still feel like I got my money's worth and then some, but it really seems like the devs are pretty diligent with their updates.
In an age where AAA games cost $70, launch in a broken state, and still have the gall to add a microtransaction shop, I am very grateful for indie devs like these who still provide value and a genuinely good gaming experience.

I'm 5 episodes into this show, and while I'm really enjoying it, I'm surprised at the direction it took. Before it released, it was being hyped up as "more faithful to the comics," than the movie, but it basically has nothing in common with the comics past the first episode. lol But I do like the direction it's headed in, I have some theories about where it's going, and I think it's pretty cool to shift the focus to making Ramona the main character and seeing her confront each of her exs.

I got #Necesse on Humble for $5. I tried it out, and after about 10 minutes, I was like, "Eh. This game's alright."
Then I accidentally stayed up until 3 AM playing it. 👀
This game is very fun. Think Terraria + Rimworld + Stardew. It's pretty deep but accessible, and they don't throw too much at you in the beginning. That lead me to believe it was shallow at first, but really, I just needed to be patient and play a few more minutes of it. lol

#ADHD #LifeHack #452: Throw in the Towels
1) When you buy a set of towels, buy one extra towel that is a very different color. Maybe even a color you don't like that much.
2) When you wash your towels, fold them and put them away so that the differently colored towel is on the bottom of the stack.
3) As you progress through the next week or two, when you go to grab a towel and the only one left is the obnoxiously colored towel, that is your reminder to throw in a load of towels NOW so that your next shower doesn't leave you without one.

@npub167v…nwsf No dice, unfortunately. I haven't been able to track down an APK from the Amazon App Store, and I can't find my (very) old Fire TV stick to try and extract it myself, if that model is even still supported by Amazon.
NASA advertises it as being available on Amazon Fire TV, so it must be a regional issue. 😢 If I can somehow find an APK that works, I could try sending it to you to sideload, but idk if I'll be able to pull it off of if it would even work if I did. Hopefully they'll just update it for Australia and release an Android TV version for me pretty soon. 😅

It seems like the web browser is a better experience than the Android app so far. It is not yet on #AndroidTV, but it is on #Roku, #AppleTV, and #FireTV devices. I am gonna try sideloading the Fire TV version onto my Android TV just to see if it works.
Regardless of some launch-day jankiness, it seems like there is a ton of amazing content on there and it's all freeeeeeee! You don't even need an account. 🥰

There was a Game Gear version of Ristar that was technically an 8-bit remake and it had some notable differences, so it was kind of a different game, but Ristar never got a proper sequel or anything. They have just re-released the Genesis/MD version of Ristar a bunch of times.

I've been really excited for #TheMarvels since they announced it. I was one of the few people I guess that actually liked Captain Marvel, and I love Brie Larson in the role. I also loved Ms. Marvel. It wasn't a perfect show, but it had so much heart and Iman Vellani is THE stand-out addition to the post-Endgame #MCU, imo.
But I started to sweat a little when the release date started crawling up and they basically stopped marketing it. I was getting Secret Invasion flashbacks. Now reviews are rolling in, and one of my go-to critics that I typically agree with had some real bad stuff to say. In fact, I don't remember the last time he was that harsh on a film. 😬
Is this going to be another forgettable bomb? 😭
