i don't know why torture myself, but when i'm in my car, i often listen to the radio because i don't feel like dicking around with my phone. so i end up listening to npr. it is the worst political news coverage besides maybe fox news.
they were discussing the impact billionaires have on politics in the US. they laughed that sure billionaires give a lot of money, but they're not more powerful than voters.
they never mentioned media consolidation in the hands of billionaires. they control what people actually think.
musk literally bought bird app to destroy it as a platform to organize politically, unless you're a fascist, then bird app is great.
how many voters get to meet with presidents in the white house to voice their concerns? billionaires get to do that.
billionaires literally run the country, but npr thinks it's funny and really voters are in charge.
the npr analysis is superficial and nothing more than whitewashing the influence billionaires have over our lives.

the reporting is that israel told biden's defense secretary austin that they were going to attack lebanon, but they didn't know the details. and i'm guessing the biden admin didn't ask for the details.
do they really think plausible deniability will work in 2024?
i know biden is old school, but come on man, that's just lame.
we can see what's happening. we can see the weapons shipments. we can see the humanitarian workers killed. the US citizens executed. the tens of 1000s of palestinians slaughtered. the hundreds of journalists executed. we know what's going on.
we don't care if biden knew the details the terrorist attack in lebanon, all of this is on biden and the democrats. biden could absolutely put an end to this violence and he chooses not to, even when israel engages in actual terrorism.

Israel always justifies slaughtering innocent women and children because they killed a top commander or someone. That's the norm now, as long as you kill a "bad guy," you can kill as many civilians as you want. And how many times do they do these attacks don't kill any military person, but a bunch of civilians? Well, that's that. Israel and the Biden administration have decided that the murder of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by an Israeli SNIPER was an accident. They were shooting at someone else, and accidentally shot this US citizen in the head.

here's what's going to happen. a fully autonomous car will have to drive too slow for most americans. their heads will explode if they have to ride in a car that drives at a safe speed. so in order to sell cars, tesla will just make it so the software is actually unsafe. they will knowingly have people killed and injured with their cars because it's better for the bottom line.
it's what ford did when they realized that the pinto was going to explode when rearended. it was cheaper to pay the victims than to stop production and fix the error. it probably ended up costing them more money, but ford is still a company making shit tons of money. so in the end, killing those people didn't really matter to ford.
the same will likely be the case for tesla. the car industry has made car deaths to be a more acceptable form of homicide. it's the cost of freedom, they say, but it's really that they're killing people for money.

On one hand, I see people regularly over-inflating the power of one person to make drastic change. People will say things like, "If you don't like schools in your community, fix the school district so it's way better."
"If you don't like the democratic party, get involved in the party and change it."
"I've had people tell me that I should change our economic system from capitalism to something else, if I don't like capitalism."
Yeah, the guy in his basement that no one has ever heard of is going to change the entire economic system of US.
Yet, these same people scoff at the power of the collective. That's the trick isn't it? They tell people, you can do anything, there's nothing you can't do, but don't work together to do anything because that's communism, you have to do it all by yourself, but you absolutely can do it.
You can't. It's the phantom power of individualism. As individuals, we're easily controlled and powerless.

no problem. this is a fun personal project i'm working on. in a nutshell, it's a simple application i can use to keep track of scores when i'm playing disc golf. I hate the app that is the main one for doing this. they're dicks about user data - my data. i think others will use it too, but i'm not going to charge for it.

people should have even more say in who these candidates are that we're supposed to vote for.
this year, obama went around and cleared the field of biden in the primary. don't run against joe, he's got this. and then joe didn't got this, and they pulled the old switch-a-roo and now it's harris.
no one voted for her, but we're all supposed to rush out and vote for her because she's better than trump.
i think dorothy day would be deeply disappointed in what we've allowed happen to our electoral process. it is corrupt and undemocratic.

i don't know anything, but what if someone lived in a pure sterile environment then is exposed to the real world, wouldn't they get horrifically sick until their body built up its immunity to all the viruses that they've never been exposed to?
so exposing oneself to lots of stuff builds up your immunity. or no?
you do run the risk of dying or being severely harmed by purposefully exposing yourself to all these viruses and bacteria.

Biden getting squishy about the genocide in Gaza is classic Democrat.
Biden won't actually stop the genocide, but he would rather people didn't refer to him as Genocide Joe. So he setup that temporary pier. He boasts about a few truckloads of aid getting into gaza while there's literal famine. People are literally starving to death.
But when it all comes down to it, Dems choose money and power over people every goddamn time.
The don't realize it now, but the Dems are done. People are fed up with the same old bullshit, and the party can not keep up with the times. One thing we can do is to boycott the democratic party. To make it be the thing everyone hates.
Until we destroy the two-party system, this country will never realize substantive change/progress. It's too corrupt, and there's no hiding that fact any more.
