There's so little butter left on the shelves at my local supermarket, from any brand, that I'm convinced that they've personally offended the butter gods. This is no longer "due to high demand" (which was clearly always a euphemism for "due to low supply"), this is "Our procurement manager slept with the wife of Boutyros so Boutyros turned him into a bull and you can't milk that so we're putting together a crew to sail over to ask the oracle what to-- Uh oh, sea monster just happened."

wheeling a shopping trolley on his left
in which stood a very happy dog
while a second dog ran happily alongside on the footpath.

@npub1zg9…nh26 Funny, someone mentioned to me yesterday that people generally like either mohawks or 3-turns more than the other. So far I'm not sure I have a preference, I just struggle with different things for each one. 🙂
I can do about 2 slow rotations on a two-foot spin, and a couple of small hops. I don't know that I'd want to do more than maybe a waltz jump anyway, it seems asking for broken bones. 😉

@npub1zg9…nh26 Oh no! I enjoy doing forward drags but my left turnout (and/or right balance?) is weaker so the ice has chewed up my skate there terribly! I keep meaning to investigate skate tape and then not getting around to it.
Currently working on my FO 3turns and FI mohawks - still need to be near the barrier to dare, but slowly gaining confidence. Definite progress today. It's mostly in my head, my technique's close to passable or at least would be if I could commit to the turn properly.

@npub1zg9…nh26 Got up late, made breakfast, sheltered my neighbour after another argument with her partner, went ice skating where I'm finally getting the hang of a couple of key steps, put on laundry, had lunch, hung out laundry, visited op shop (2 shirts donated, 1 bought) and bulk food store, confused the bus driver who thought he'd seen me just a few hours ago (he probably did!), and now about to make hopefully-ice-cream for dinner at a friend's tomorrow.

@npub1zg9…nh26 So much maths in crafts! I was watching a video about drafting sleeves and going "That's a whatchamacallit curve shape thing! There's probably a formula for this involving pi and/or sin and you're just eyeballing it with a measuring tape!"
I wonder if there'd be a market for a book on "Maths for Crafts" either for people who actually want to use maths to upskill their crafts or (very different audience) in school teaching to make examples not all about sports fields and stuff.

@npub1zg9…nh26 If there's been mould present, then probably a white vinegar spray/wipe? Then dry thoroughly. If you can position it such that the portion being dried is in direct sunlight, UV is a good disinfectant too.

I actually cut one branch into a solid walking stick once. The bark whittled away beautifully. For smaller widths the centre is spongy soft which has pros and cons depending what you want to do with it.

@npub1zg9…nh26 Elder babies grow thick as grass in parts of my garden! Luckily if I spot them soon enough they're easily uprooted. One hid long enough I had to take the saw to it which will mean lifelong vigilance as they just keep regrowing, like tī trees....

But where it was clearly two in a car? Yeah, just take turns, and if the queue miraculously clears then meet outside the mall.
Even without desperate bladder requirements I'd be sending one to find out what's stopped traffic (because I've read stories where poor signage led to the queue going round in circles....)

(I think I've only done the latter once, after a great deal of provocation over multiple encounters.)

Actually percolating a while since reading someone's "lolol our ancestors really wasted their time ironing stuff" post which on the one hand yeah ironing can suck, but on the other hand - it does add an extra step to the hygiene process. Cotton/linen stand up to a good high heat setting.
If you have time (and an iron), until you get an new dryer, maybe ironing the sheets (while watching a movie) would be worth the tedium?

@npub1zg9…nh26 I've had asthma most of my life - that was the worst for me, mostly it's been well under control
But there definitely is stuff in the air right now. My nose gets stuffed up easily and I have been noticing that the last couple of weeks (makes it hard to sleep at night). OTOH I also discovered sitting the portable air filter by my bed at night seems to be actually helping - crossing fingers that's not just a coincidence of which nights I've tried it.

Once I was having quite a bad attack and the afterhours clinic sat me down with a ventolin inhaler and a spacer and gave me six puffs all at once. I'm not sure if ventolin technically gets you high, but I was certainly feeling high on oxygen afterwards, if nothing else!

According to the birdsite-Covid19NZ account, masks will remain free until end of September and RATs until end of 2023. Apparently decisions have yet to be made for after that.
So I just emailed Ayesha Verrall and asked the govt to commit to free masks and RATs permanently, since protecting yourself shouldn't only be an option for the wealthy.
I also asked for air purifiers in classrooms (improve class attendance!!)
And for StatsNZ to ask about Long Covid symptoms in its surveys.
