The date based pagination that I initially wrote in BUD-02 for users to list "their" blobs on a server is pretty useless. So I want to update it to either offset-limit or cursor based pagination. I've been told cursor pagination is better ( since we have unique ids ) but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get more feedback
Also does anyone know how we could implement negentropy sync on blossom servers? the `upload` date is different on each server but the sha156 is the same across servers

If your building a new kind of nostr app then pick a new kind of event. even if you change it in the future its not a big deal since there aren't any users yet and you don't have to worry about migrating data
For example I built https://github.com/hzrd149/cherry-tree a while back and used the kind 2001 since no one else was using it
I have a feeling most new devs default to kind 1 since they can easily debug it. or they are experienced nostr devs use kind 1 for "discoverability" ( so it shows up in the social feed ). either way I think the only solution to this laziness is to track down the dev and make them use their own app till they realize how bad the UX is

I'm guessing it doesn't allow redirects because then there would be know why to know if that user owned the domain
Either way I find it odd that a lot of other nostr clients just show the NIP-05 as "verified" without checking

Started tinkering with a new project that I'm definitively going to need some help with. but the idea is to build a simple static file manager for nsite stuff
The goal is to allow users to easily login with the various keys they use for their nsites and manage relays, blossom servers, and the static files
Really I just want visibility into an nsite, to show the user what it is an how it works

BUD-01 doesn't mention anything about 301 or 302 redirects, mostly because no one has implemented them yet. However you bring up a good point.
I would say both

are blossom compatible URLs because they contain a sha256 as the filename that presumably matches the file returned.
However only the first "www.myblossomserver" URL is a "blossom" URL because the hash is at the root path
When it comes to redirects. they shouldn't cause any issues in the protocol as along as the browser or client knows how to handle redirects (the -L flag in curl)
The only concern I have is for users. for example if I upload an image to myblossomserver.com and it gives me the URL mybloccomserver.com/<sha256>.webp
If the user opens the URL, gets redirected to s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/myawesomebucket/<sha256> (without the .webp ext) and copies the URL in the browsers URL bar. they will end up pasting a "bad" URL into their social media post and then image wont show in most clients
Again I don't think there is any harm in using redirects, but you have to keep in mind a lot of users actually copy the URL from the address bar. or modify it directly

One of the most useful linux commands I know "fuser -k <port>/tcp" kills the process that is using a certain port. really useful for killing that dev server you forgot to shutdown

blossom is decentralized in the same way nostr is. someone else's relay or server will always rug you. so if you want your data to remain available online you have to manage it yourself.
Either pay someone (or multiple people) you trust to keep it for you, and or have a local backup

Next version of applesauce is going to make it really easy to modify inbox / outbox relays. there is now "addInboxRelay" and "addOutboxRelay" methods that can be used when modifying the 10002 event to modify the "r" tags. and it handles duplicates relays by updating them to "read" or "write"
and it won't touch anything else in the event, so if there are tags it does not recognize it will leave them

Its a missed opportunity that linux ( and other systems ) don't have a "open in video player" link when you right click on .mp4 files on the internet
For long videos its so much nicer to play them in vlc then try to keep a browser tab open

rx-nostr and applesauce work really well together to build a simple DVM
I refactored my @npub1mkv…jgnu DVM to be a little simpler
Its now broken into two parts. first the relay subscription pipeline https://github.com/hzrd149/libretranslate-dvm/blob/master/src/index.ts
Then the job translation job itself https://github.com/hzrd149/libretranslate-dvm/blob/master/src/job.ts
Its using rxjs observables and AsyncGenerators so the code is very clean and reads from top to bottom instead of jumping around and calling all kinds of functions
And rx-nostr is handling all the relay connection (and re-connection) for me so the DVM shouldn't go offline anymore

To be fair, the communities that I've joined and have been testing were all migrated from telegram
But ive also noticed what your talking about. For myself I usually don't respond to posts unless tagged in them.
I'm not sure why, but I think the lack of an algorithm means that I end up seeing posts that are interesting, but nothing that really gets me mad or what makes me want to respond.

I probably wouldn't have much use for it. the difficulty with adding nostr native gifs is building the UI elements and figuring out how to aggregate and sort the gifs
That said, it might be worth forking the tenor library I'm already using and making it use nostr https://www.npmjs.com/package/gif-picker-react 🤔
The biggest issue there is you would need to find a way for the library to connect to relays to fetch data, and ideally it would reuse the relay connections the app has

It probably wouldn't be difficult to build something like storej on top of blossom and even use the same chunking and encryption methods. however I don't think it makes sense for blossom to support chunking and distributed storage directly
blossom is good at transferring and replicating smaller files around the internet.

I'm not sure exactly, but I think it has to do with how the AUTH message is understood in different clients and relays.
It looks like wss://mleku.realy.lol responds with an AUTH message when the socket opens and then doesn't send anything until the client responds with an AUTH
This probably doesn't work well with clients or libraries that are built expecting a NOTICE "auth-required: " message as a signal to authenticate
This seems to be an issue on both sides though, because I've started using rx-nostr and its implemented the same way. it considers AUTH messages to be a signal that the relay is asking for auth without waiting for a NOTICE "auth-required: "

BUD-09 adds a simple /report endpoint that allows clients to submit NIP-56 report events directly to the blossom server. so it doesn't need to watch relays for them. I don't know of any blossom servers that have implemented it yet though

I haven't looked into scanning media but I figure it wouldn't be too difficult to feed all media uploads to a moderation queue so they could be scanned. and if the blossom server required auth you could keep track of how many bad blobs a pubkey uploaded

Events in the k>=10000<20000 are replaceable by kind. So each pubkey only has one of them. A good example is the k:10002 events
Events in the k>=30000<40000 are replacable by "d" tag. So when a new event is published it replaces the old one with the same "d" tag. A good example would be the NIP-23 article events
