I do not know. To me, the text of the convention does not seem unreasonable, but I think that back in the late forties, they assumed the conflicts would be pretty much symmetrical. That is, the occupied country would evacuate and temporarily relocate its people; like Ukraine is doing, for example. In the case of Hamás, though, they would need to be more than just a group of terrorists showing zero care for the civilians in Gaza. They should be the ones negotiating refuge and safe harbor for their people, but instead, they use them as human shields and blame Israel.
So you are right in this point, but I still think Israel should not have fallen for this trap and should continue only with the most surgical approach possible. I know how difficult and time-consuming that would be, but it would be the right thing to do.

Last night's #eurocorn was another great success. Among the topics discussed were @nprofile…9400's creative process and the enormous pressures put on her and @nprofile…txfj by their artistic mothers. We briefly touched on solar powered people zapping and the possibility of getting arrested for it.
We also learned about the plan for @nprofile…xfg7's note toasting before it happened and @nprofile…txfj told us that he really created puzzles in his early days on Nostr. In that moment a stroke of genius landed and we realized that there is no Geocaching clone on Nostr. This definitely needs to change.
Then we shared our grievances about various Nostr clients, explored ways of connecting a Nostr Wallet for instant zapping and discussed Vibe Coding with @nprofile…js2v and @nprofile…aaay. Around the 1hr mark we realized that not a single euro-centric topic was discussed. So we extracted some travel plans from our non-European member @nprofile…0s3g and this talk naturally evolved into a debate of globalization and loss of national identity.
Around the 2hr mark we had a computer nostalgia moment with @nprofile…xtmn, recovering our early memories of chatting on IRC, copping code from magazines and playing simple games, but also the impact of unlocking 486 without a key on a child... The rest of the evening we talked about raising children and protecting them without shielding them completely. I tried to steer the conversation to ethics of developing of GLP-1 resistant drugs, but that debate died out fast and instead we explored apps for food quality detection... Yuka and Open Food Facts.
Right before midnight, it was just me and @nprofile…js2v discussing practical questions and plans for the @nprofile…gd8n.
Thanks should also go to @nprofile…59dy, @nprofile…gplw, @nprofile…n6g7, @nprofile…8te6 and few unnamed heroes who had the patience to mostly listen to us talk. Among the greatly missed was @nprofile…atal, @nprofile…m95a & @nprofile…lzt0. Maybe next time!

Yes, my hypothesis is exactly as ridiculous as the article's conclusion. The data are not suggesting either. Proper report should say there is a significant difference and we don't know why. Further study would then look into exact diagnosis, clean the data from injuries and move forward.

What are the real motivations for writing code?
Expression: I write code for myself. The code is public just because I like Open Source, not because I care about users.
Ego: I like being the (benevolent) dictator. Users are here to admire my project, my code and they should be thankful for my brilliance.
People pleasing: I write code, fix bugs, add features, because I like the idea that my software makes someone’s life better. If that’s not happening, I burn out.
Money: I write code because it makes economic sense. I can feed my family. It does not matter if the money comes from sales, donations, employment, or grants.
So tell me, for which one of those motivations does working under pressure, or getting shamed for dropping a project, actually work?
And the beauty of Open Source: anyone can pick up a great or even a not-so-great project and work on it.

If couple is two and exactly two, than there is no reason to use it. It is twice as long as simple "two."
In people it makes sense, because you are also saying something about their relationship, but for hours, weeks, beers, cars etc. what is the point of that word?
