serious question: why do many (most?) people share 2 grammatical versions of their pronouns, like he/him, she/her, they/them?
Why choose these arbitrary ones, instead of only the first one, trusting people know how to decline them? Or use all declensions like he, his, him or they, their, them?
genuinely curious how this developed, since I was kind of late to the pronoun party.

I can see what you mean :D
It's definitely got its share of explanatory, pedagogical parts. But they didn't disrupt the pacing, which I found pretty good.
Also, far less tech-centric than walkaway.

Has anyone read Doctorow's new book "The lost cause" yet?
IMO it's #solarpunk as fuck, though it's not the cozy feel-good, post-problem-solarpunk but rather the gritty, traumatic kind. Still, it's full of hope, solidarity and people being there for each other.
I liked it a lot and ripped through it in a single weekend (though I'm not sure it tops walkaway for me).

good point! and I think the same questions apply here, especially if small-scale replicators are widespread:
can anyone use the industrial replicators? do you need a permit? do only companies/collectives get to use them? do you own the things you replicate with them?

Replicators:
Some authors argue that replicators enabled a post-scarcity economy - but who has access to them, and how?
I don't think every household has one: even on starships, the higher-ranking officers have exclusive replicators, with the rest of the crew sharing theirs.
Are there communal replicators? How could they be maintained in a way that everyone's access is ensured at all times?

Energy:
Afaik, we hardly know anything about earths energy production in #startrek .
Starships are powered by matter-antimatter-reactions, is it the same for earth?
If so, that sounds like a very centralized solution, not quite what for example #solarpunk is arguing for.

Money:
We know that the Federation doesn't use money anymore (both Picard and Kirk mention that), and that life improved drastically after the third world war, but otherwise it's pretty vague. How are goods allocated?
Labour:
We know that private property still seems to be a thing (e.g. Chateau Picard with its vineyard, or the restaurant of Benjamin Sisko's dad).
Are these exceptions? The rule? How is labour organized? Are there repercussions for people unwilling to work?

Finally got around to seeing Strange World, and I liked it a lot!
The animations are amazing, and the world they explore is really imaginative.
I love the casual queerness and the ethnic diversity of the main cast as well.
The story also has a nice #solarpunk twist to it.
