I’m Tiffany (they/them). Queer, non-binary, non-monogamous, invisibly disabled (though is it really? Other chronic pain folks see it easily enough!), step-parent, living in lots of liminal spaces. I’m a narrative therapist and do some community work, right now working on community projects related to supporting trans lives, feeling climate anguish, and being disabled in an ableist world. I’m a white settler on Treaty 7 land. Still masking, because covid is still happening.

@npub1mm5…9qt8 Unfortunately, I yet again had a panic and started crying and we weren’t able to do it. Third time’s not the charm in this case. So, less pain but more stress and still not knowing what’s going on. Thank you for the fingers crossed. 💜

I have a painful and stressful medical thing happening in an hour, and I’m trying to soothe myself by planning out next steps in the projects I’m working on. But the problem is that most of my projects are at the stage where the next steps are like, sit down and actually do the writing now. Which is not very soothing to imagine! Maybe today won’t be as painful as usual and I’ll be able to get some writing done this afternoon.

I need to redo my website. It is out of date and very annoying to work with. It’s currently WordPress but I’m not necessarily super attached to that (though migrating my current blog posts is a concern)
If you had to rebuild a website and might be willing to start from scratch, what would you do? I don’t need to sell anything directly but I do need a blog, something that clearly communicates the services I offer, and somewhere to put links to all my downloadable documents.

I am heading to the clinic for my #covid booster shot. I have a debilitating fear of needles, despite many years of therapy to try and get over it. It regularly stops me from doing things like necessary bloodwork. But covid is an ongoing pandemic that puts the most vulnerable at increased risk and is a threat to everyone. Plus, I'm immune compromised already myself. So, off I go. There will be tears, humiliation, and hyperventilating, but it will be done.

@npub1mm5…9qt8 a few years ago, I used this framing a lot, in a couple different community projects. At the time, it felt like an important challenge to stigma and deficit models. But I don’t think I would use it again, because it comes with too many unintended side effects, including the ones you’ve described here, and also setting people up for a feeling of personal failure if their capacity changes in ways that feel less ‘superpower’. It’s a risky metaphor for a lot of reasons.

@npub1cxy…vryr I’m reading The Unspoken Name by AK Larkwood (fantasy, queer, a bit grim, not amazing but pretty good!); Sandman Act 2 full cast audio (really good, but the intensity of sound production/background noise makes it a bit hard to process with my auditory processing issues); Side Affects: On Being Trans and Feeling Bad by Hil Malatino (non-fiction, brilliant). Next up is Cruel Seduction by Katee Robert (romance). What are you reading?
