20 stage Garfield-Gunnison (52 miles). 2300 feet +, 4160 feet -. Max height 11293 feet. Queen stage. Welcome to Hell.
We ascended through the valley enchanted since we had little left to reach the summit.
But on the way down, hell begins with a lot of headwind, so much so that what should have been 2 hours and 40 minutes. The journey takes almost 5 hours. Endless.
When we reach the end, they announce to us that the only bridge leading out of the town has collapsed. And there is no alternative path.
We are staying in a hostel and we are waiting for news with 2 options:
a) We have published a post in the town in case someone helps us cross the river by boat.
b) Border the river along a goat path and to get to the other side of the bridge (52 miles), the bridge is less than 1 mile.

19. Stage Buena Vista- Garfield (42 miles). +3422, 1821-. Max. height 9557 feet.
Beautiful stage, we continue along 285 and turn off towards Monarch along 50. A progressive ascent begins to Garfield. Lovely town wich is 6 miles from the top of Monarch. It's cold and the height is very noticeable. But we have WS again!

18 stage Kenosha pass- Fairplay (21 miles) 1240 feet of positive gradient, 1286 feet of negative. Max. height 10,000 feet.
Hard day, we continue along 285 but very strong gusts of wind begin in Jefferson (The area is very windy).
We wanted to get to Buena Vista but we can't. The WS of Buena Vista comes to look for us, Fairplay, thank God. Sometimes you can't fight nature...a storm is coming.

Stage 17: Rainbow trout ranch and campground- Kenosha Pass (28 miles). max height 10062 feet.
We continue ascending 285. We arrive at Kenosha Pass, an esplanade with campsites closed for the time of year. but we camped without problems anyway. We cook far from the store because of the bears... . Starry sky, spectacular views,... what more could we ask for.

16 stage: first of the second phase of the trip.
Denver- Rainbow trout ranch and campground (24 miles). 3432 feet of positive elevation gain. 8563 feet max height. reached.
Beautiful stage, we started at the Walmart in the Lakewood area, and began to go up Deer Creek Road, a paved road with hardly any traffic and with many cyclists.
We enjoyed it very much, then we connected with the 285 higway to the campsite. $35 but without any type of service beyond a toilet.

Stage 15: Last stage of the first phase of the trip
Eden Island- New Orleans (35.5 miles)
We have succeeded in dividing the stage, and from Eden Island the entrance to New Orleans is beautiful, definitely follow these instructions:
From Eden Island follow route 11, you will pass the bridge without traffic. Then follow the Google directions by bicycle, leave Route 90 and go next to the train line and the river. We saw two crocodiles at 3 meters, a spectacle. You avoid the entire east side of the city and reach the city center very easily.
We stayed 2 days in a WS and then another 4 days in a Hostel. our plan: second line, get 2 bicycle boxes, visit the cotton fields, eat crawfish... enjoy!!!!

Stage 14: Bat St Louis- Eden island (35.5 miles)
We divide the last stage into two, for several reasons:
- Accumulated fatigue
- Entering a city is always complicated.
- There was a campsite halfway along the road with a swimming pool.

Nice stage!we had lunch before Pascagoula in this nice place...the best local fried chicken you can eat( Our guest from mobile tell us). But it lasts because of all the fatigue we accumulate these days. Furthermore, the north wind slows us down. Luckily WarmShower works 100%, and prepares us a complete breakfast the next day. Getting closer to Loussiana..

Our host took us very well along secondary roads with hardly any traffic. and we arrive at Mobile, little New Orleans, we travel through the interior of Alabama with its green meadows. and Our host in Mobile gave us a nice tour of the city.

Stage 10: Pensacola-Foley (53 miles)
Tough stage, especially because of the heat and traffic. We also got lost along the way because Google sometimes fails hehe...
Our WS came to pick us up with the bike and took us on roads with less traffic. Very thankful.

stage 9: Fort Walton- Pensacola (60 miles)
Long, but beautiful stage, we took the road to the island of Navarre Beach, pure fantasy, and we stayed with a warm shower again that was first class. Really grateful to the people who participate in this APP. You definitely have to push it.

stage 8: Santa Rosa beach- Fort Walton (27 miles)
Very short stage, with a lot of traffic and boring, thank goodness it was only a few miles. Our last warmshower offers us a field to camp there, so very cool, we enjoyed the beach for a little while and after some beers. Always good.

stage 7: Panama city- Santa Rosa beach (41 miles)
Nice eta, always with a good shoulder that passes bikes and also Google Maps takes you to cross the town which is always appreciated.
We stayed in a warm shower, again very good, this app works perfectly and helps a lot on a trip of this nature.

6 stage: Port st. Joe - Panama City. (41.7 miles)
We had a terrible storm at night, luckily Google warned us in advance and we were cautious. We went to an RV resort that cost us $60.
Pro: We secured a safe place from the storm, washed our clothes, and had a dry place to ride out the storm.
Cons: the storm was so strong that it flooded the store, luckily we moved quickly, we took out everything and took refuge in the washing machine room.
The route: boring, we crossed a military air base and, well, lots of traffic. But the shoulder turns out to be very safe so far.
A piece of advice, during the trip, follow the directions on the maps as if you were a car. When you enter the cities, click on the bicycle option to travel through streets with little traffic.
Our first host at WS, a spectacle. Very nice, she offers us a room for us, food, a washing machine...we don't know how to thank so much attention from all the people who are helping us make this trip. Thank you all very much

Tips for staying for free. APP:
Warm Shower: app for bike-packers, where hosts offer a garden to sleep in and a hot shower at the very least. It works really well.
iOverlander: offers free spaces, you can filter your search and adapt them to your needs in a thousand ways. A marvel.
CouchSurfing: this app is quite old but it can save you, especially in big cities. It can be used to ask for points of interest to visit local people with the same vibe as you.

Stage 5: Carravelle beach- Port st.Joe (41 miles)
Today we flew away from the storm. Finally we were lucky and it did not fall on us, but there was a risk of flooding. We stayed in an RV park. But the rain has flooded our tent, so we will sleep in the laundry room. "One problem, one solution"

Quiet stage, we continue along the 98th, but we turn south approaching the coast of Florida. Without incidents on the road and with magnificent weather. We finished with a cold beer at a local biker bar.

Throughout the stage we had to recalculate and in the end we went along the main road, Google directed us along sandy tracks that were impossible to navigate with bikes.
We finished in Perry as scheduled. This is #RedNeck land.

1) Have basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance:
- Tool to repair wheels.
- Allen keys of different sizes.
- Brake replacement.
