In the US it does exist. Is it the norm? No. Are there a number of metro areas in the US where you can do this? Yes. I've lived in some of them and done it myself. A complication comes when you have children, but plenty of people make due

Blame should also fall on parents. You don't become voting age without parental influence, whether that's indoctrination or abdication. Parents need to be involved, teach their kids to be decent, and be active in their hobbies (including their viewing habits). Hate is taught, and if you want to stop it, you have to be engaged in their lives to steer them away from it

@npub1dxj…exjn The most important thing to me in replacing Zigbee/zwave is power usage. If equivalent devices use more power, then it's not worth it, no matter what nifty features they may advertise. I haven't yet seen anything that shows usage comparisons of common devices(sensors, plugs, lights, switches, etc), but they really should be leading with that. I really don't care if Apple, Google, etc is involved. In fact, that makes me care less because they're apt to putting up their walled gardens
