weirdly you cannot really, because it's not wasted, it is a byproduct of the (high entropy) energy used to mine. The heat is low entropy and cannot be used further.. same idea as the earth, we take in sunlight (high entropy radiation) and emit low entropy radiation (heat) back into space. we cannot do work with that heat anymore, work was already done that resulted in this heat. Of course you could pump *cold* water around and try to heat it into steam or something and drive a steam engine, but the cold water now functions as a low entropy source. with diminishing returns... otherwise we would be able to create perpetual motion machines

I would say the protocol is rather "social apps" specific and not specifically designed to extend well, it will take a while for the sprawl of NIPs settle, already the protocol is much more complicated that the initial design... curious to see how this plays out in the next decade. I'm guessing we'll see another nostr like protocol better suited for non twitter/RSS like apps, probably using the same compatible cryptography, so you can use your profile there as well.

This already happens at a basic level: just trying out different clients with the same "account" gives view on the same information. I use different clients for different vibes... Very nice

this is because the client somehow lost the set_metadata message and it needs to get it again from the relay. This might take a bit if your client or the relay is busy, so click on the profile itself to speed this up (this usually gets the client to directly pull down your profile info). I don't understand why clients don't cache this more aggressively.

Big fan, also Rich is amazing person.
But not a fan of null pointers. So rarely use it these days. Tried the "Uncle Bob" Nostr client and it crashed woth a NPE ofcoz haha 😂
Whats the build and IDE tooling situation these days? When I used it a lot there were constantly new alternatives introduced. (I was on emacs)
