Look at the UK election, why didn't The Greens win a majority of seats if people care ? The voters are as greedy, stupid and short sighted as the people they elect.
Fir sure The Greens are radical enough but the path we need to take goes though them as a first step, a first step we have t even taken.
What would happen if polticans took it seriously; closing airports, banning Cars, banning cruise ships, banning meat eat pets, banning jet skis, installing insulation, banning pleasure craft and on and on. They'd never get re-elected and every rule they made would be undone by some populist asshole politician appeling to we deplorables.

Where I am living (Tasmania, Australia) everyones complaining about the cold (coldest start to winter in many decades in places) with the occasional anecdote, "so much for global warming." I try and stop my eyes rolling

No matter where you look, #ClimateDenial is ubiquitous.
Instead of closing airports and spending on expanding electrified rail (fast rail (not very fast) to Sydney etc) and cycle infrastructure locally. They're making sure #ClimateChange is made worse, deliberately. 30 years of warnings and literally no shits given ? So much for a #ClimateEmergency
Should they be jailed in future, if we even come to our senses, for deliberately choosing to destroy the biosphere and makeing a more unlivable planet ? I'd hope so.

12 yrs ago at or little off grid cottage in the bush we had 42C for 3 days and nearly all our veg died. A real wake up call
2 years after that we had drought and large foreest fires all around, another wake up call and 12months after that, mega fires that took out 82 properties in our local area (not ours, it was better prepared) and the soul of the village with it, the final bell tolled.
We have since moved to a much colder place with zero fire or flood risk, superb soil and rainfalk (so far) much closer to the pole. We deal with the cold with a hothouse made of mostly reclaimed materials and expect the area to get warmer as the years roll on with the continual ignoring of emissions by voters and governments the world over, ironically we have cold spell right now :) coldest in many many years!
Deciduous leaves and the neighbors cow poop (he agists 4 on his small acerage to control the grass) provides lots of compost additives, the ladies with an animal rescue down the road take all the fallen apples (10 highly productive trees) we can give her (excess to our eating, preserving and compost use and gifiting away) and has endless animial poop as well (horse, goat, alpacha etc) lots of easy shoveling :)
There's only so much sunk cost fallacy you should endure, don't ignore natures messages Be safe and stay sane, keeping up the great work here!!

I don't agree with such a narrow definition. That would see the guards at Austwitz having no responsibility.
Anyone who flies for example is the enemy of sustainably, as is anyone driving a car. You can argue all day about necessity but nature doesn't care for our necessity.
I have seen the enemy and the enemy is us. How we vote, how we live is nearly ubiquitously at odds with sustainably.
We're so far away from where society needs to be to be in anyway sustainable it's looking to be an unachievable goal. There are a plethora of people posting a zillion articles about moving towards a more sustaible world...and there's the issue, more sustainable, inevitably means kick the can down the road because its like being a little bit pregnant. How we'd need to live with 8-10billion on the planet to be sustainable is beyond the imagintion of most and those who can imagine it find it unacceptable.
Th UK and UK elections alone will further the destruction, no matter who wins, because who need's to win won't even get a look in.

I don't agree we are, not even close, we're LARPing at progress, were still building roads, expanding and building airports etc.
It's like saying we're making progress on plastic pollution by not using plastic straws, even though we are INCREASING plastic use and will double output by 2050 at the current rate.
We have increased fossil fuel use and production, they're reopening coal power plants in the US to feed data centers and their incredible power needs. Indonesia is building coal power plants to process minerals for the "green" transition.
The only thing we're doing is bullshitting each other we give a shit but nature cannot be fooled.

There is NO solution to climate change, environmental degradation, resources depletion etc that doesnt have active and electrified public transport and the removal of private cars and aircraft.
Ecars are the distraction ensuring the changes we need don't occur and are ensuring the continual destruction of the biosphere and the disappointment is they're so strongly defended even in here.

The stories I read of those unable to get insurance and those with high insurance costs probably explain why they're making the best money for a long time in a #ClimateChange impacted world #AusPol #Insurance
I have long maintained and argued in here in the past (with much push back from the orthodoxy) Insurance in the capitalist model is a ponzi scheme. They're already underwritten by the Federal Government in northern Ausralia where flood insurance was going to be impossible to get, so we'll see as the decades roll on. They need to make more profit again :) someone has to pay for that and more building on flood plains mean it will get worse going forward.
