@nprofile…rvca Thanks for your insight! I don't usually print larger than A3 anyway as I like my audience to have to lean in and actually be "in the scene" rather than looking at a distance, so it does sound like potentially I could downsize my gear so I don't have massive lenses!

@nprofile…xr9p Ahhh maybe it's your server that has blocked it then. I'm running my own instant so I haven't blocked access to it as I think it's helpful for me to be able to stay here where I much prefer the people and interactions, but can also link up with Threads and Bluesky if I wanted to.

I had problems trying to find it manually too.
Also, if we are both bridged to Bluesky, then our conversation on Mastodon will also be visible over there too.
But people on Bluesky will need to follow Bridgy Fed there to be able to interact with us properly.

I am just directing people on Bluesky to my mirrored Mastodon account now, and asking them to also follow Bridgy Fed over there so we can interact cross platform.

@nprofile…xr9p You only probably need to follow on the platform you prefer, and then your posts are automatically mirrored across. I think I would prefer to use Mastodon as my main platform and simply mirror over the Bluesky because the nature of the Fediverse requires more active curating, whereas Bluesky is more like Twitter so posting there means anyone can see without worrying about sharing to the right servers etc.

I don't understand the #Instagram algorithm. Why is it that my posts are being so underseen compared to "stories"?
Is the trick to do more stories and somehow lead people to posts via stories?
At this point perhaps I should just give up on Instagram lol.

I have noticed that #Bluesky char limit is less than over on #Mastodon, and that long posts here are truncated with a kind of "read more" function linking to the Mastodon post.
Probably best to get used to setting out hashtags at the beginning of the posts so even if they're longer than the Bluesky char limit, the hashtags will come out first.
Will have to try this out when I post "content" later on!

It looks like that using @nprofile…rnyf to bridge / mirror my #Mastodon account to #Bluesky only makes the Bluesky mirror account a broadcast only function.
If people on Bluesky reply to my mirrored posts over on Bluesky, it does not appear that I can see any replies over here on Mastodon.
But I guess only being able to mirror post is at least a starting point.

I've just followed @nprofile…rnyf to try and bridge my Mastodon account over the #Bluesky. Let's see how this works. Would be nice to be able to touch base with people over on Bluesky without having to get to grips with yet another platform.
I really love #Mastodon and the community on here! The interaction and people on here are so much more genuine than I find on other platforms!

#ThrowbackThursday post to 2022 when a photograph I shot of the coffin of the late Queen was making its way from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall for the lying-in-state.
Was just a little surprised that I ended published in a fashion mag of all publications... and not just Harper's Bazaar, but specifically the KZ edition lol.
But Harper's Bazaar is Harper's Bazaar... I'll take that hahaha.

I've previously written about using free apps to plan astro shots, but if you're willing to spend a little money on an app, PlanIt Pro is one of the ones which I also use.
The functionality that I really love about PlanIt Pro is the virtual viewfinder which helps me have some kind of idea about what my shot might look like with regard to landmarks and landscape.

Brought out my 70-200 mm and set up my tripod in the middle of the road outside my home looking like an idiot, bit it was so worth it to get this more up close and personal shot of comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. Also managed a hint of the anti-tail.
This is my first time stacking my astroshots and noticing that the quality is so much better!

A question for the #photography community. I currently use the Peak Design Travel Backpack, but finding it a bit heavy even when empty - probably because of the sturdy structure of it.
I'm not one to bring loads of big lenses. The biggest lean I'll probably have with me is the Tamron 35-150mm for Sony. But I'm usually trotting around with my Leica Q3 and maybe an M to go along with that nowadays.
What lightweight camera bag / backpack would you recommend I look at?
