I've previously written about using free apps to plan astro shots, but if you're willing to spend a little money on an app, PlanIt Pro is one of the ones which I also use.
The functionality that I really love about PlanIt Pro is the virtual viewfinder which helps me have some kind of idea about what my shot might look like with regard to landmarks and landscape.
