Today I could have drawn a big eye - window to the soul, but I decided to challenge myself. Challenging myself when I had a disrupted day was probably not the best plan and perhaps I shouldn't have pooh-poohed rulers and measuring and drawing over the speed limit. Nevertheless I think the Sanctum of the Sainted Monsters has a certain something.
The Rotring Art Pen did most of the heavy lifting. Little bit of brush pen, lot of water brush and some watercolour pencils.

I'd gotten it in my head that it was Science! today, but it's not, so I was casting around for what to do. I did a search for animals with Sugar in their names but only came up with the sugar glider, which cool - I draw animals. I had a vague thought about the Sugarbird Lady and looked for a bird called the sugar bird but no, only our local heroine kept coming up.
Okay then. I don't generally draw machines OR human people but I'd give it a try for her.
I hope she doesn't mind too much. Drawn with a Pelikan Twist loaded with their Eidelstone Garnet.

Not really a scene from any of the books, just that I would never have thought of a honey badger shifter without having read them.
The thought I had here was that after a transformation it would probably be nice if someone offered something to take the edge of all that energy expenditure. And a honey badger would like honey I bet! Might even make them less grumpy. :-)

Day 8 of the drawesome challenge on Dreamwidth brings us reflection, and this is what I came up with. Disappointingly the shimmer inks aren't showing up that well. Never mind. These two are certainly friends. I know one thing, if their hair gets tangle they're going to be in trouble.
Different worlds, and maybe they can touch only briefly but the contact is important.

Drawtober 5 Valuable
As usual, clicky for bigger.
I had a pretty bad headache today and just pushed through this one. It could have been better but I'm pretty pleased as it is. It gets the message across that I'd described to myself in my head.
Husband wandered by and said I needed to put a Bill and Ted phonebooth and Tardis and Time Machine in but I think I was lucky to get us far as I did. So you can imagine a TARDIS in there if you like.

The purple chicken is off to the library to get a boooook book book.
Mildly inspired by [@JakeSparkleChicken](https://oldbytes.space/@JakeSparkleChicken ) The ink is Purple Pazzazz from Diamine and it's lovely. It's hard to get the sparkle showing so here's another couple of attempts. Much better in sunlight.
It is very sparkly. The paper I'm using is one of the Claire Fontane little sketchpads I got in the gift exchange at the Pelikan Meetup.

So the Dreamwidth Drawsome community has generated its own list of drawing prompts for this traditionally drawy month, and it's the one I'll be doing this time.
I've drawn an Australian Magpie in response to the prompt 'Pie'. As usual it's straight ink to paper, no pencil, no rubbing out.
The ink I used was the Golden Lapis which Pelikan gave to Pelikan Hub attendees. Thank you Pelikan!
Australian Magpies look different to the other birds commonly called magpies. However if you're Australian and you think it still looks wrong bear in mind I got up at 4am this morning and spent just over half an hour on it, so I think it's pretty good for that.

I really enjoyed this year's PelikanHub, held in Subiaco at Earthwise Outback Hire.
It was a great venue, and an enthusiastic crowd. The beautiful giveaway in, the Lapis Gold was universally admired and appreciated, and the doorprize/exchange was luck of the draw, and I did well in it. I was glad to see that someone had grabbed the prepaid postcards I'd brought as my exchange before me, otherwise I would have, I think! I ended up with a bottle of Racing Green ink and some much appreciated Claire Fontaine blank sketchpads.
Bingkgo was played (bingo using ink samples as the numbers) and won by 3 lucky folks.
@npub1e8c…fwlu @npub1yql…dtj2 and I went for a walk afterwards and had icecream in Rokeby Road.
Very nice evening and it's all due to @npub1e8c…fwlu telling us about it.
Thank you to Pelikan! I love the ink and it's going to feature heavily in my Drawtober entries this year.
