it's really interesting, an early prophet in Mormonism taught that the God of our planet was actually Adam. This neatly ties the bow on Mormon cosmology, but then is kinda weird because Adam created himself? Talked to himself in the garden of Eden? Anyway, this theory is no longer taught in the church and hasn't been for decades,
The Mormon God is definitely a personal figure though, he's a man like you and me, has a body. It's a far cry from something like what the Deists talk about, much more of a mangod than even Christians talk about since only Jesus has a human body. In Mormonism there is a famous picture with Joseph Smith being visited by two white haired bright men, that's God the Father and Jesus Christ according to the account.

see i don't see it that way, I was raised Mormon after my dad wanted his kids to have morals. I was 11, and until 17 went to church basically every weekend, and to the temple on several occasions
for me, the thing that got me out of it was that mormonism doesn't fundamentally explain anything. it says, this world was created by a god.... who is originally from another world ruled by another god... and so on. This doesn't explain where the universe comes from, and is much worse than the typical Christian answer of "ex nihilo" or "from nothing".

Subgenius/Discordianism that I got sucked into sounds so much cooler since behind the satire is Zen Buddhism instead of an empty ethos like atheism. Poor atheists, their representatives have ruined the reputation for all of them. Fedoras, Amazing atheist vs the banana 🍌 in the butt, etc.
It's not good for the common man to be atheist. Better for him or her to believe in the noble lie of Christianity or whatever, hopefully this will keep them in line

Christianity was a mistake, they fucked up bit time by making Paul's Diatribes "inerrant scripture". Paul fought with everyone, including Peter (someone who actually met and knew Jesus) and he basically ended up solidifying Christianity into what Paul wanted it to be.
I am a practitioner of Stoicism with a splash of Zen Buddhism when required for a good time. They're basically the same imho
