Class is a huge issue because we live in a world with wealth inequality approaching C19 levels and a fines-based system of public control.

Likely I suspect. I can't remember when I first came across articles talking about which degrees graduates who earned the most money held, but it's been a long time.
Conversely, there's the whole 'you think like a....(chemist, historian, musician, etc)' aspect that gives us depth as a species while being largely ignored.

Higher education at best provides a deep knowledge of a particular area from which a person can draw perspectives on all other areas throughout their life.
It should be more about creating rounded, thinking people and less about wage work and salaries.

Agreed, although no one seems to be highlighting the fact that in electing the 'least worst' parties to government there's a tacit admission that western liberal democracy has failed.
Perhaps the 'protect the markets at all costs' mantra extolled by centrist neoliberals needs to be called out for the anti-social corporate bollocks it undoubtedly is?

No one likes fascists, but tbh I'm struggling to get excited by centrist neoliberals beating fascists in this new-normal Western Liberal Democracy.
Why can't we get rid of fascists *and* odious neoliberal centrists?
At this point it's even plausible to wonder whether being the only alternative to neoliberal centrists is the only reason that fascists ever get close to power in the first place.

Access to NHS data is going to be part of this trade deal isn't it?
The most sickening part is that these US health companies genuinely believe that *our* NHS data is being 'wasted' through the lack of monetisation when any apple pie US company would have exploited it for kickbacks already.

I can't disagree because I think that schools should be teaching more of everything, but at a time when schools are stopping the teaching of *real* things (like geology) while teaching *made up* things (like religion and economics) I do wonder whether it's all good.

Agree, altho I'd suggest a *lot* more tax to discourage individual landlords and property companies from hoarding the limited stock.
Either,
1. Home-ownership is the goal and so we discourage all rent-seeking behaviour that prevents home-ownership through the exploitation of scarcity, by taxing landlords to the point at which they can only make a loss from property rentals.
Or,
2. Ending homelessness is the goal and we set about building publicly owned housing.

I'm grateful to have a job because I have bills to pay, and so my job has meaning

A bigger workforce and automation mean that we no longer need everyone to work five days a week for forty years, so most of us are only working to maintain wealth hierarchies, artificial markets and unnecessary debt.

Reading between the lines it looks like China has messed up Trump's plans by raising the WTO case and blocking exports to the US.
If other countries pivot towards China to protect their own economies rather than following the US lead then the US could be in trouble.

I have a (probably unpopular) theory that having been instrumental in creating the conditions for a war between Russia and the EU, the US is now adopting isolationist policies that would ensure that the US can steer clear of any European military conflict.
The economic advantages of sitting back while Russia and the EU get embroiled in a war are obvious.
