I will be using the extraneous hot dogs to make hot dog stew!
Cut up hot dogs (or cooked nice sausages if you're fancy 😆) crisped in a pan with onions, garlic, peppers. Add to chicken broth + tomato sauce base. Add cooked potato chunks and some green beans. Add whatever peppery/hot spices you like.
It sounds chaotic esp. with the potato plus tomato, but it's delicious (and kids love it!).

I took down whatever links, wish list and etc. I don't wish to help him any more going foward.
I try to pick some people and help them when I can. I don't regret sending food and clothes to a hungry human being but I can't countenance this going forward.
I'm very sorry to anyone else who also helped him. I still think we were not wrong to feed and clothe someone.
But given the situation now, there are thousands of others I would prioritize and I'm sure you would, too. I feel sick about this.

So I must tell you, friends. Of the people that I have helped or tried to help regarding mutual aid efforts and you have helped too.
I just found out that the reason Ray has not been posting was that he's been arrested. And while being arrested is not necessarily something to judge, he was arrested for something I can't countenance.
You can't know what you don't know, and I hate seeing people go hungry or unsheltered for, like, bad credit or something. But this was not that.

For years, decades even, we've been seeing people say they didn't understand how Hitler came to power. But that usually just tells me that person came from a functional family of origin and expects people are reasonable.
If you came from an abusive hierarchical FOO then you already know how most people in town will treat that abuser like a pillar of the community EVEN IF they know what's happening to the family.
None of what's happening today will be a mystery to you at all.

This AC really is not working. It's not only the missing tree limbs allowing more sun--the sun has been down for hours. The AC has to be broken. There is no cooling happening at all.

Here's the thing. You, me, we did not "opt into" fascism when groceries and rent went up and we got scared about staying fed and housed. We did not choose that attitude in response to hardship.
It is an EXCUSE. It always has been.
If poverty "causes" fascistic attitudes, then why don't we see more of BIPOC/marginalized poor voting GOP?
Furthermore, if we look at party affiliation by household wealth, it's the RICH who overwhelmingly align RIGHT.

My son wants me to post this, he would like to get help for his BFFs (twins from his HS). They just need some food and household items for their family.
Their dad lost his job and the twins have been working every week to try to supplement mom's pay but they are short on basics like food and soap. (There are younger sibs too.)
They are such nice kiddos, and trying to support their family as teens!

So here's the thing. I like animals including, of course, dogs. (I don't have any because I live in an apartment and I'm allergic to most mammals.)
But when I'm running/hiking at the county park. Where leashes are REQUIRED on the trails. And dogs I don't know come running up to me.
The reason I look unhappy at the owners is not because I dislike dogs. It is not because I have an irrational "fear" of dogs. It's because *I don't like complete strangers running up to me out in the woods.* 😠

4. Young schoolteacher, very resourceful, witty, clever, incredibly organized and disciplined, dedicated.
Had Covid twice in 2021. Had to quit teaching due to fatigue, memory loss. Instead of getting better it got worse. Had to be hospitalized multiple times for brain issues. Short term and long term memory issues, developed (new) frank psychotic symptoms that last months when they flare up. Also severe depression, hives. Constant appts, barely functional, lost home & friends. Finally got SSDI.

3. One in middle age, but super healthy and vigorous. "Captain of Industry." Hikes 20 miles per week every week, constantly working hard morning to night, traveling, golfing, etc. Very bright intellectually. Had Covid twice in six months. I noticed some unusual forgetfulness in the months shortly after. Just learned today they are now experiencing so much memory loss they've had to get brain MRIs and started taking multiple medications.

2. One who previously had some health issues incl migraines, asthma but controlled, not interfering with work/parenting. Three months after moderate Covid bout, developed extreme fatigue, could not work/parent. Undertook 9 month Long-Covid clinic program. Barely made a dent in symptoms, nor restored functionality. At end of program given a scan which revealed--yep, cancer. During cancer treatment, also developed kidney dysfunction and auto-immune issues.

1. Two months after moderate Covid bout. Previously healthy and active person. Life-threatening sudden heart attack that required an ambulance and was said to be near fatal. Required emergency surgery and months of inpatient and outpatient recovery just to get basic mobility back. Still not recovered, now newly diagnosed with cancer.

It's that everyone I know who has developed terrible new medical issues recently had Covid.
And in every case I'm thinking of, it's become a health crisis within about three months of their most recent Covid bout. (Usually not a bad bout, either.)
