Alright, #asknostr.
I’ve watched dozens of YouTube videos and tried plenty different methods but still cannot perfect it - how do I cook a perfect fried egg?
I’ve used nonstick and stainless feel pans and played with warming the pan before yet still struggle half the time.
My biggest issues are smoking oil and the egg still sticking to my pan. I prefer to avoid butter if I can thanks to some gallbladder issues but ultimately just want a tried and true method for not getting frustrated with an egg sticking to my pan.
So stainless steel? Nonstick? Medium heat, low heat or high heat?

Hash rate continues to chop, address count chop, LN nodes first slight increase in quite some time. It's been 4 weeks exactly since I said I'm cautious here on price around ~$43k with rates and USD ripping. "Queue run to $70k" I said in that report, as a contra trade to my bearish thinking. Well, here we are!
Not sure what to think anymore but I'm still not super duper bullish so I guess we have more room to run?

Happy Monday! The Lions gave us all a tough ending to the week last night over here in Michigan, shouldn't have expected a different outcome I suppose but the buzz around the state was real. Here's to another shot next year. 🍻
Full nodes drop again for the 3rd straight week, now down about 10% since this damn ETF launch. I know this stat is kinda useless because we can't monitor Private/Tor nodes but I still like to monitor. This is the lowest number in the 31 weeks I've been doing this, only under 16k briefly back in August 23. Will continue to watch and report, obviously I like to see this number get bigger over time.
Hashrate bounces back, aggressively. BTC looks cheap compared to hashrate again, going back to levels seen around Thanksgiving. Interesting, addresses greater than 1M sats dropped significantly, the most since I've been doing this yet over 10M and over 100M increased slightly. I'm just going to try to find ways to blame this ETF it seems going forward, I'll get over it eventually. Have a great week and do something fun.

A little late this week (again) but we're still here (again). Wild (or not, depending on your time preference) past week from a price standpoint, all the hype for $50k and that OG Bitcoiners were getting calls to sell their BTC because the custodians couldn't buy enough to fill the demand was kind of funny. Surprise, hello $40k, and quickly! We're hovering at a pretty crucial area $42k-$44k and I don't have strong conviction on if we breakdown or not. So I will continue to DCA.
FWIW - I'm happy the ETF narrative is done but I really don't like where I feel this is going. Centralized custody of BTC and a continued narrative that the only use case is for criminals or money laundering will only get bigger and bigger over the next year, in my humble opinion. I hold my stack in self-custody but it sure feels that outlawing self-custody in the US is the path we're headed down, it really would be the only attempt to 'stop' this thing if I was a politician concerned w/ losing my ability to control the monetary policy. I DO believe we will prevail in numbers but it's a scary thought, the path of getting there. /End rant/
Back to the report, we still see declines (quite large) in all address counts. I don't really understand why. Hashrate continues to rip! Oh, and I'm earning some fees again with some routing activity. Very volatile stat but fun to watch regardless.
I hope everyone can find some balance in their day/week. We have about 2.5 / 3 feet of snow and I was able to take my dog out today to admire the beauty of snow-covered trees. Cheers.

Full nodes count bounced back up which is nice to see. LN capacity dipped below the psychological level of 5,000 BTC for the first time since 10/1/23 after that big spike up from ~4,700. We topped out at about $5,400 at the end of Nov. and have just drifted down since. Not sure this metric makes a ton of difference at the current stages - More important that we're using the capital more and more in addition to growing capacity. Still interesting to note big swings in the network 'size' - Price has an impact on this though as well obviously. Less BTC required as fiat value increases as much as it has since Oct.
Addresses all tick up, good to see. I'm VERY curious in watching these numbers in the coming months after spot ETF approval. I still don't like it but that's neither here nor there. I'm a free market guy at the end of the day.
Lastly, we can all laugh at my routing node activity again. It sure isn't easy to run a node and not lose money but I still do it, not sure why.

Damn, 20 weeks I've been doing this now! Largest increase in addresses over 1M sats since we started this, the next highest goes all the way back to week of 7/30 where we increase 0.44% vs. the 0.66% this past week. I'm sure this surprises none given the recent price action but it's still cool to see the dynamics of how adoption grows play out in real time.
Good continuation in price, let's see when we correct where that next higher low establishes itself.
Not much else to note, price goes up and LN capacity and channels hold steady. I do still need to add some better metrics around LN adoption - I'll get to that.

It’s the absolute best watching how quickly this space pivots. Censoring is a problem? Oh, we’ll build our own decentralized media platform and call it Nostr, allowing anyone to run a relay from across the globe and contribute to hosting the network.

Now I certainly don’t agree with the decision to remove Damus but I’m hesitant on moaning and complaining too much when in a free market they have every right to choose who can or can’t use their products and services.

Are there other resources that expand on this topic? Continually trying to harden and challenge my position that BTC could be a reserve currency but admittedly don’t fully understand in practice how a currency with a fixed supply will succeed.
