Mastodon is the implementation though, not the protocol. I'm guessing that noobs don't search for activitypub. So it would be like people searching for Primal, which would probably be fine.
But I think you're right wrt the landing page. Have a button that either lets them get started instantly, or choose from a list of clients.

Can't you untick the option to use primal wallet in the settings? I think then you can connect your wallet for zaps, if it supports it. No idea about wos.

Can funds in any of those wallets be recovered if the developer gets shut down? Phoenix says "your funds will still be safe, but you won't be able to make any payments". Not sure what that means.

BTW it's now also happening on brave. Once I clear cache it works on both browsers.
FYI the problem occurs when i buy an address. Now I've cleared cache its OK. It just seems to be a problem with updating after the invoice has been paid.

I think there will always be free ones. It's just that currently using paid relays is a good way of reducing spam.
Also the price is absolutely tiny at the moment. I think many people will be happy to pay rather than see ads, especially if they are already receiving tips in bitcoin.
