Okay, so #Apple's "Personal Intelligence" runs off your device to integrate with everything you do. It "draws from your personal context." The new Siri gets into everything - chats, mail, messages, etc., and connects to ChatGPT, but at least it asks the user for permission first.

The double-standards exist. Saying that China poses an economic threat implies everything the U.S. is doing is about protectionism, which isn't exactly the case. Not at all. I agree with you (I'm a privacy nut). But I was looking at it from different angles. Sometimes, you come up with fresh perspectives when you do that. And what you get is a gap between the CEO's defense and everybody else's accusations that shows he hasn't done a whole lot to address legitimate concerns. No. I was tossing the idea around, sort of the benefit of the doubt. But protesting and defending aren't really actual measures to address concerns, so they are guilty on that front, as well as on the privacy front, among others. It is a sad state of affairs, given the sheer number of (young) people who use it. It says a lot about us too.

No, I'm just putting the possibility out there. If you search the countries that banned it, many banned it relating to political conflicts, others due to conservative views, as in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Having said that, the other side of the coin makes TikTok look guilty because it didn't take measures to address the ban concerns, where possible.

So #TikTok is already banned in so many countries. It makes you wonder why its leadership hasn't taken measures to work around the bans other than protesting them. The reasons vary from regional politics to #privacy, to national security. Pros and cons considered, it's the perfect scapegoat.
