@nprofile…s5e3 same feeling here, the social media brigading, as Linus called it, and the conceit, is embarrassing. I stopped following rust hashtags because of it.
The cost of adding another language, particularly one with the history that rust has for complexity of bootstrap and tooling change, is not to be underestimated. Needs to be done in a way that doesn’t makes every developer, every build server, every distribution that cares about binary bootstrap size, pay the cost.

Dear #eff and #privacy fediverse, I am looking for an analysis of what domestic (US) legal processes and can lead to a legal request to ProtonMail, which would be recognized by Swiss law and thus force the disclosure of metadata, or IP logging.
Specifically, I'm working with a threat model of local, state, and federal law enforcement harassment of US activist organizations, and trying to determine the extent to which department, states AG, and state/federal court cooperation would be needed to produce these requests.
In short, looking for a legal "threat model" and the mitigations using a Swiss org like ProtonMail provides.
