For a nation of dignified, free citizens to exist, it is not enough for that nation to have a collective force over which a majority of citizens wield theoretical soft power (democracy). The individuals and families that make up society must also directly wield practical hard power themselves.
This means some meaningful portion of families must have physical possession of their own energy, weapons, transportation, land, and more.
But today this also means free citizens must have genuine ownership of all their computers, including all embedded devices, as without that, physical possession no longer necessarily means true ownership.

All censorship on nostr should be
decided on an individual basis by each user. You want quick premade auto updating block lists, fine but the user needs to choose that. If you want it on by default it needs to be made clear to the user how the block list is being created and where it's being pulled from. The only purpose of nostr is to be an uncensored social platform, everything else is tertiary to that.

Many people disagree with me and it has a lot of users. Same reason I'd say Bitcoin should work on the internet even though I think IP is a pretty bad protocol. And there are other blockchains I don't think are shitty but serve a different purpose than Bitcoin with different tradeoffs like Dero, Polkadot, Bittensor, etc. Who knows how long any of them will last but there's cool work being done there.

I'm just throwing out examples for use cases, I'm not sure what the best way to achieve these things is. I think Taro or RGB are possibilities. I'm not sure if the most important thing is whether they directly use the Bitcoin blockchain for security or are somehow bridged to Bitcoin and / or merge mined or something (I know most bridges right now are pretty much permissioned garbage). I think the more competition the better and we don't necessarily need one winner in terms of RGB, vs, Taro, vs a bridged chain, etc.
I do also think it's worth investing in bridges to other ecosystems like Ethereum, shitty as it is in many ways, and getting Bitcoin to replace USD stablecoins as the sort of base liquid asset.

The biggest problem I see with Bitcoin maxis is there refusal to accept a valid purpose of *any* other digital asset. I understand that this may come from a legitimate place where there are a lot of scams and tokens trying to cheaply capitalize on Bitcoins success without actually providing any of the benefits of Bitcoin (would be to long to phrase my own way in this post but, digital gold, etc, etc,). A lot of these projects were also direct "competitors" to Bitcoin in the same way silver is a competitor gold, they were meant to be used as money and were generally much worse than Bitcoin at being money.
The main thing I think there is a ton of value in that Bitcoin can't provide is some digital asset with similar characteristics to Bitcoin but that is used as equity in a decentralized project / businesses as opposed to money. For example, you want to start a decentralized Uber competitor but you don't have any money to hire developers or entice users away from the entrenched competitors. So you say I will give out equity to contributors, developers, artists, even users and even though that equity is valueless right now, we all believe that if we do our jobs well it will have value one day. Just tokens that are to stocks what Bitcoin is to money. You wouldn't pay for your decentralized Uber ride in this equity token just like you don't pay for Uber rides in Uber stock, you would pay in Bitcoin. You would just perhaps take some sats from each ride and distribute it to the equity token holders.
The problem right now is that people trying to build Bitcoin focused products have a hard time funding the work to really compete with traditional alternatives. Either you get donations which is not sustainable or you create a traditional regulated company which can't possibly build products with cypherpunk values without getting shut down by governments. Not to mention self-sovereign software probably does need to be open source which means the business model of selling licenses is also out the door from day one. I've always though it was ironic that a community that prides themselves on an understanding of game theory doesn't see this.
I'm also not suggesting that these other assets could be as sovereign for the holder as Bitcoin itself, of course they are high risk assets so most people would probably mostly want to hold Bitcoin. But if we want a serious circular Bitcoin economy full of cypherpunk teams we need a way for them to issue equity. Regulators will never accept it but that's the whole point of this type of asset as opposed to stock. There's demand for this type of asset and it will be filled (possible in a very shitty way that doesn't actually achieve what it claims to) so Bitcoiners can either push this market away from Bitcoin or embrace it and compete for it in a way that keeps Bitcoin at the center, which I would argue is the only way it's really going to work well long term.

It's pretty clear Elon doesn't believe in digital sovereignty (just look at Tesla's, Tesla maintains full control of your vehicle after you "buy" it).
Complete speculation here but as he's obviously a smart guy so I assume he's thought about it and it and it seems like his view is that there will always be some central authority controlling things. So instead of trying to fight that, he wants to have as much of that power as possible so he can control things the way he wants instead of the way someone else wants. For example Twitter is still chalk full of censorship but they're censoring things slightly differently than they used to (more in line with Elon's world view).
Part of this is probably true in that there will always be large power discrepancies as people are not equally capable and will use different strategies to acquire power, which will have varying rates of success, and they will then build motes around that power. But I think where he is wrong is to give up entirely on decentralizing power and maintaining free and open competition for it.
I also think there's not an actual reason to expect he would want to help achieve these goals. Elon is a grifter. Remember when those kids were stuck in that cave and Elon inserted himself into the situation and was acting like he was gonna come up with a solution? He gets in on whatever is trending and uses it to promote himself. When Bitcoin is pumping he'll do some random pro Bitcoin virtue signalling like accepting payments at Tesla for a month or tweeting out some anti-fiat memes. He'll go one about how AI is going to enslave us all, only to make a completely closed off AI that he controls instead of making something open that individuals could actually take true ownership of and shape how they want / use to defend themselves against malicious AIs.
TLDR: I respect a lot of what Elon has accomplished but I'm also not into this fanboy shit, we need to accept he ain't gonna help with this. If anything he might he'll actively hurt.

Current state of AI is about 1-2% the intelligence of a bee.
A Tesla can kind of sometimes drive from point A to point B on purpose made, constantly maintained paths.
A bee can fly from pretty much anywhere to anywhere without issues using a several order of magnitude more complex control surface. It can also walk / climb from anywhere to anywhere with much more complex controls than a car. It can build a hive, harvest pollen, clean itself, clean other bees, defend the hive or the queen, and a myriad of other tasks. It can also determine which combination of these tasks it should engage in at any given moment. It can learn in real time and significantly alter its own behavior.

I've got a bunch of non-technical people on Graphene and they don't even notice it's not Google Android. Graphene manages to retain Google Play services compatibility while removing its root access and forcing it to conform to normal permission system. On Google Android the permission system for anything involving play services is completely meaningless, play services has root access to your phone. The only thing you won't be able to do is Android Auto because there is no way to do Android Auto without giving it root access.
It's not like the old days of Android custom ROMs. Graphene is a professionally maintained, reliable, and easy to use Android based OS. I highly recommend it.
