What’s the status of threads in #Matrix chats? They’ve been available in Element for around 2 years now I think, but from what I observe no other clients support them. Not even Element X supports them.

#Fedora question: some packages get major updates only on major Fedora releases, like GNOME for example. Other packages go through major updates within a Fedora release, examples: kernel, mesa, qemu (I think I once saw this do a major version bump outside of a major fedora release upgrade).. Where is this policy and the set of packages in each group written down?

Stumbled across Shortwave in Flathub today. Lovely piece of software! Simple and does exactly what it says on the tin: "Shortwave is an internet radio player that provides access to a station database with over 30,000 stations."

@npub198t…hasj if you were using LUKS on these, is physical shredding needed? Is that a legal requirement? From a technical perspective I’d have thought wiping the LUKS header or destroying your passphrase would be sufficient.

@npub18yv…xxyn I’m a software engineer with past experience with functional programming languages (and what immutability means in that context). I love the “immutable” distros and have hopped between almost all of them.
For me the reduced hysteresis and atomic updates are the appeal. It’s important to acknowledge the range of approaches in the immutable linux space: SUSE transactional updates, ostree style image updates, NixOS style declarative, vanilla os ABroot deployments..
