IDK who else needs to hear this, but some people still do:
- videos are not documentation

- a web forum is not documentation
in addition to having a mismatch from an Information Architecture standpoint, *each* of these introduce barriers to entry and accessibility problems

stop referring to vulnerabilities stemming from software using publicly-available package repositories cataloguing what amounts to a vast effort of free labor as “supply chain attacks”
providing free labor does not make one a supplier — a “supply chain” implies some form of economics where EVERY OTHER MODEL of a supply chain involves money changing hands
these attacks are against a communal resource, not a supply chain

Hey folks, just as a reminder,
don’t install Remote Access or Management tools for your employer on your personal devices
I’m consulting these days, and a client wanted me to use Chrome with a managed profile, and even *that* is a no-go for me; it still lets them install & remove extensions inside Chrome, which still qualifies as a RAT, and is a hard no from me
If they want that access, they can supply the device
(in fairness, they plead ignorance of this capability)

@npub1c57…awu5 this was part of my problem with Adderall; I could focus too easily, but it would often be on the wrong thing
another part was, sometimes I need to let my mind wander in order to be creative, and I couldn’t do that on Adderall
the third part was, it made me sweat so much it ruined a few shirts

This piece by Don Norman (of “The Design of Everyday Things” fame) on accessibility and design has been going around, and is worth a read, *especially* if you work in technology and don’t consider yourself a “designer”
Accessibility affordances help everyone, and if you are creating things, accessibility is part of your job. I wish more engineering/product types understood that

@npub1a72…ze5k I do enough projects that I have a sets of other things too, but I mean, it just really hits home with hex keys. Imperial units don’t even make sense with these things, it’s literally the size of the KEY inside the thing being driven, like, use imperial dimensions for your bolt diameters, sure, but HOLY CRAP just stick to the simple set of known good key values

I don’t know which is worse: the fact that my phone made a disconcertingly and possibly hearing-damaging loud noise for ten seconds in a way that I the device owner have no control over
Or the fact that this is purportedly a mechanism to convey important information and there’s no way to go back and read that information _again_ after I’ve dismissed it.
