This is a helpful resource. I hope that in typical Trump fashion the broad tariffs are an opening negotiating tactic. Coming strong out of the box on tariffs, but then negotiating a more reasonable compromise later seems like the type of wheeling and dealing that would appeal to him.

I use the cloud based cousin - Bitwarden. Their free version gets everything done that I need. Last year my New Years resolution, I sat down and started systematically going through my saved passwords, and changing them into a new and secure passwords to save into Bitwarden. I started with the financial websites, then key social media sites, and finally went through everything else. It took a few weeks doing just a few minutes a days, but eventually everything got shifted over.
It felt fantastic to get it all done! And Bitwarden has worked flawlessly ever since.

Even worse is that the US hasn't had an actual budget for over 15 years. Ever since the bailout for the Global Financial Crisis, the US government has been paying the bills by passing a new continuing resolution every year. They simply keep the baseline spending increases programmed in, and than add in whatever new spending initiatives on top.
Both Republicans and Democrats have gone along with dodging their responsibility to actually come up with a Budget for all of their appropriations. The amount of potential fraud and abuse that has built up over the years is probably more massive than we can imagine. We shall see how much of it DOGE manages to root out.

This seems very true, as least for the old school "web" aspect of the internet. Advertising on that was a pretty bad bet even in the past, but AI is going to be the final nail in the coffin for it.
Social media / Youtube /TikTok still has a bright future for ads, since that content is something they can always hijack your attention for, and it is not easily replaced by an AI alternative.
Perplexity.AI has started to do targeted advertising in their search results. They leave their main answer unmolested, but they will insert a loosely related follow-up question that is sponsored in the search results below.
I was doing a bitcoin search on the platform, and got a "How can TurboTax help you pay your crypto taxes" follow-up question at the bottom. Not too intrusive....so far.

Bitcoin can be a moral force for good.
Nearly 4 years ago I gave up drinking, and decided not to fritter away my new "savings" every month one nickel and dime at a time. I decided that dollar-cost-averaging Bitcoin made sense, because the potential upside was great, and there was minimal potential downside because it was fully discretionary money anyway. Thanks to Swan Bitcoin I could DCA Bitcoin automatically with minimal fees, which was perfect when I got distracted and stopped paying attention to Bitcoin.
Then last year, my car finally got paid off, and after shopping around for new - and even used - cars I figured I better hang onto my old one for another few years. So I started to add my monthly car payment into my regular Bitcoin purchases.
Then a month or two ago, I finally fully ingested the Orange Pill, and went down the Bitcoin Maxi rabbit hole. I've upped my DCA already, and I am prepared for do more if/when my finances improve.
Now Bitcoin is operating as a backup moral conscience.
Go back to drinking? When i think about what a beer costs in future sats, it makes me glad to reach for a diet coke.
Get a fancy car? That new car smell is going to cost me a half-million bucks or more by the time Bitcoin hits a million.
Frugality and clean living never paid so well!!!

Mandarin is definitely the dialect of elite Chinese, but it is rooted in being the local dialect of Beijing, which has been the capital on and off for centuries. Even today, a native Beijing janitor will sound "classier" than some very high status executive from the Cantonese speaking south.

Coinos is excellent, and I actually mentioned them yesterday in my introductory post where I made the same complaint about on-ramping. Not that I have anything against Canada, but it would be good to have a US version of their type of wallet available, to remove any lingering taint of the anti-crypto bottlenecks of the last few years.

Someone with a custodial wallet needs to return to the US, even it bows to KYC. For a newcomer in the US, it can be daunting to set up your first lightning wallet and get it funded. Custodial wallets make it as easy as Venmo. I am grateful for all the non-custodial options out there for techies and bitcoiners, but if Nostr is going to expand their user base, the grannies and the technophobes need a dead simple option.

Greetings Nostr! With Twitter's flood of engagement slop and Bluesky getting all the attention, I've become intrigued by Nostr's promise of a more uncensored and conversation-driven space.
It's great to see Nostr expanding beyond its core userbase of Bitcoin enthusiasts - hopefully, the tooling will keep pace with this growth. As someone who already holds Bitcoin on-chain, I was surprised to find setting up and funding a lightning wallet to be a challenge. The current lack of custodial options in the US is a significant hurdle. After some digging, I stumbled upon a solution that worked for me (shoutout to Coinos.io!), but it's clear that more work is needed to make this process smoother.
The outdated or irrelevant information about custodial wallets doesn't help, either. It's frustrating because I believe Nostr has real potential - but it needs better on-ramps for new users. I hope crypto lobbying efforts will prioritize bringing back custodial lightning wallets to the US, making it easier for people to join the fray.
