Asked @nprofile…n07f 's neurologist for a copy of her MRI. It's crazy how bad the tumor looks.
This is a horizontal slice through the top of her head. You can just see where her eyes are about to come into view at the top of the pic.

The tumor is pretty obvious. It's the half golf ball. The neurologist was also concerned that the meninges surrounding her brain on that whole side were also lighting up (white outline on the tumor side but not the other), either due to inflammation or possibly additional tumor spread.
This second view she's lying upside down facing us, we're moving in through her face in vertical slices. The tear drop features at the top are teeth.

The golf ball is pushing her brain back and to the side. The good news is that the prednisone calmed down the meninges so the main mass looks to be the only thing we need to worry about.
We start radiation therapy tomorrow to try to kill off most of the tumor and hopefully shrink it a bit.

The Terminator movies have been mostly meh or terrible, starting with the third one. "Dark Fate" made a pretty good earnest effort that was the best of the bunch. "Salvation" tried to be a more focused character study and I give it points for its ambitions.
Movies in general feel pretty doomed to me. Studios are too scared to do anything too original and so just do endless sequels and reboots.
That being said, the Predator franchise has been the worst of all of them, yet "Prey" managed to be pretty great.

Alien: Romulus
* Pretty good overall.
* Really great lead (Cailee Spaeny).
* Noticeably lower budget than you'd expect.
* Okay to meh to "bro..." special effects.

The writer/director, Fede Alvarez, earnestly cares about his young characters and their development. Everything about the human side of his storytelling is pretty well done. He manages the small ensemble well, but Rain and her brother Andy deservingly take center stage, leaving a lot less time to develop the others.
Alvarez falls flat with his new facehugger behaviors. Too much cgi just sitting out in the open not being interesting or occasionally inching toward silly.
The digital Ian Holm is shockingly bad. I think my RTX 4070 will be able to do better AI video renders pretty soon.

The final creature design is just indescribably bad and, worse, once again shot way too much right out in the open. OBSCURE YOUR F'N SCARY CREATURES, DIRECTORS!!!! Especially if you have an unforgivably bad/stupid creature design.
If you're too young to have seen / known about Alien: Resurrection (holy f that was 1997!! 👀) , it actually makes for a really interesting compare and contrast here.

More stylized (deeply Frenchy infused -- for both better and worse -- by Jean-Pierre Jeunet), more confident, much more personality and flair throughout the ensemble (Joss Whedon is the master of creating characters and witty dialog). Darius Khondji is a MASTER cinematographer.
Resurrection is more comic book and brash vs Romulus' more rooted "real people" tone. Also suffers from bad creature design at the end, though Romulus' is so terrible that Resurrection's seems more reasonable in retrospect.
Romulus: more real people, more real moments. It's a pretty good human emotional drama wrapped within a good enough "Alien" movie.
Resurrection: Fails overall because Jeunet is just too Frenchy and, like Paul Verhoeven, I suspect it goes big and dumb because that's what he thinks of Americans. But he's such a good f'n filmmaker. Resurrection's impressive strengths and embarrassing weaknesses make it the more interesting film to study by far.

Dogs are so well adapted to living with us that it's always surprising when a normal human thing (e.g. chocolate) is a real risk to them. Also weird that they so eagerly eat something that's so dangerous for them. Wtf Darwin?

Had a bit of a scare last night.
9pm: @nprofile…6nw5 was at my sister's house, climbed onto the dining room table when no one was around. Helped herself to 2/3 of a bar of dark chocolate, a small bag of Hershey's Kisses, a whole bag of salmon treats.
She's gotten into this kind of mischief before, but this was the first time she was at real risk of toxic poisoning (chocolate, caffeine, and other ingredients can be life threatening to dogs).

10:30pm: Called Poison Control (LONG ass wait times, $95 service charge) and they said to just monitor her for certain warning signs. Okay, cool.
11pm: My sister realizes Kuma ALSO ate all the used tea leaves out of a tea strainer (wha... why?!!). More potential toxicity.
Called Poison Control back (LONG ass wait times): "get her to throw up or you'll have to take her to the ER."
Faaaakkk.
They suggested a bit of peanut butter in a bowl w/hydrogen peroxide. Said most dogs will happily slurp it all up.
11:30pm: Minor struggle to find a 24hr drug store to buy fresh hydrogen peroxide. Like wtf.
midnight: The peanut butter trick worked. They said to keep her active for 15 min to get the hydrogen peroxide foaming up in her stomach. Ran her around but her iron stomach is legendary. NOTHING. Literally shook her in my hands to get more jiggle and foaming going 🤣. Nothing.
12:30am: Called Poison Control back. LONG ass wait time. But while I was waiting, SHE FINALLY THREW UP! I've never been so happy to see vomit (so much vomit).
1:30am: Kuma and I finally got back home.
She actually snuggled with me most of the night (unusual for her).

Today's high-fiber #rice blend experiment is a winner!
* 1 cup Jasmine brown rice
* 1 cup red rice
* 1 cup black (aka "forbidden" 🤣) rice
* 2 tbsp ghee 👈👀🔥
* 1 tsp salt 🤌
* 1 qt chicken stock 🐔

Brown rice for the #fiber. Red and black rice are also high fiber but supposedly have more nutrients.
Richness of the ghee REALLY brings the whole thing together. People give brown rice a bad rap, but this blend tastes awesome and doesn't need any additional sauces.
Rinse, toss it all into the Instant Pot.
* Pressure Cook setting, 7 min, turn off warming.
* After the #cooking cycle is done, let it sit under pressure for 10 more minutes.
* Release the pressure and serve.
Total time: just 30 minutes.
Comes out just al dente; not a fan of mushy rice.
Word is that I can find red and black rice for much cheaper at Indian grocery stores.

Lego sets are such great brain builders! Following the instructions, thinking in 3d, and seeing the final result is so satisfying. And then free building your own creations is a creativity supercharger.
Basically spent my entire childhood building and improvising Lego spaceships.

Lots of people manage to land commercials but obv very few break through.
Knew a guy who was a recurring character in Band of Brothers. A good friend was a sailor in a Target ad! Another was EVERYWHERE in 3 different national commercials all at the same time for a brief period in ~2012.
But I mostly know stunt / circus people so you see their work but wouldn't ever recognize their faces, especially if they're working as stunt doubles (e.g. Buffy's stunt double for the first ~3 seasons is a friend). A bunch get work in video games, esp for mo-cap. Another girl is a contortionist so if you ever see someone folded in half, it's always Bonny!

60g shredded parmesan
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
Extras folded in after bulk ferment during pre-shaping.
Tastes pretty dang good!!!
But next time:
* MOAR rosemary and parmesan.
* Add the rosemary at the beginning.
* Maybe add the parmesan at the beginning (adding the cheese late prevented the folds from sealing together, creating too many gaps)? Would the acidic(?) tomatoes affect the fermentation?
* Would have used rye if I had any on hand.

Apologies, but I was mostly quiet on nostr due to some limited connectivity.
* Airbnb internet connection was dead for basically the entire second half of my trip. 🙁
* @nprofile…g6xm worked great but not gonna stream tons of content in/out of nostr over a pay-as-you-go data plan. Local cell network was ~$7.50/GB. I did YOLO back into nostr at the airport and holy shit did I eat up my remaining data balance fast!!
Also, I still use twitter and think of it as my "work" account. And this trip, even the non-bitcoin site seeing and whatnot, all felt appropriate for my "work" audience since El Salvador is such a big part of the bitcoin story.

You still need a coordinator that has a recent enough view of your utxos in order to construct the tx. So something like BlueWallet. So the only #meshtastic touchpoint would be after the normal QR-based signing flow with BlueWallet + @nprofile…veev : copy the finalized tx from BlueWallet, then relay it over meshtastic to some exit node that can broadcast it for you.

This is super nerdy, but I've spent most of today so far working on (er, struggling with*) the @nprofile…r45v CI test runner (automated process that sanity checks code updates).
We have a typical test suite for it to run, but our screenshot generator is, in its own way, another set of tests that help reveal unexpected bugs.
It's stupidly simple, but it took HOURS to figure out how to get the CI to merge those two sets of test results into one final "coverage" report (how much of the code is actually tested).

With "Coverage report" cleanly in its own section of the CI checks, we'll be able to easily see if any proposed new code additions are missing appropriate tests. In general, coverage should be ngu only. If coverage decreases, your work on those proposed changes is not yet done.
This is building off of amazing work by dbast (https://github.com/dbast) to get these CI checks integrated in our repo in the first place!

It's amazing that @nprofile…7myh and "DT" and others were able to create a custom Linux OS for us (with reproducible builds!!! 🤯) that gets SeedSigner booted up and running in ~12secs.
BUT, yes, a full linux OS is a ton of overhead. Running bare metal on a microcontroller with basically instant-on and hopefully good enough performance (Pi Zero cpu is a BEAST compared to any microcontroller) will be amazing.

But this pimoroni board uses the RP2350 "B" variant (note the bigger physical package (um, heh)) which, crucially, offers more gpio pins than the "A" variant on the sparkfun board.

Thanks! This microcontroller side is pretty far beyond my area of expertise so I'm really just fumbling about and googling everything I can.
But the core @SeedSigner code is just plain python right now and is, I think, very easy to work with and should be quite beginner-friendly.
Combo of:
* Python is the easiest coding language to learn and read.
* We put in a lot of effort to make the code organized, simple, and with lots of explanatory code comments.

Bit of nerd pedantry: Pico is Raspi's dev board for their RP2040 and RP2350 (Pico 2). Pico / Pico 2 run on RP2040 / RP2350 microcontrollers. But RP2040 / RP2350 shouldn't be referred to as Picos.
And these two RP2350 dev boards in the pics above have an optional feature that the Pico 2 does not: additional PSRAM. The RP2040 had limited RAM (264kB) that could NOT be expanded, making it a less enticing option at the time. The RP2350 doubles the onboard RAM to 500kB but adds support for PSRAM expansion. So these third-party dev boards have 8MB on board!
So: RP2350, yes! Pico / Pico 2, no thanks!
As to your first question: sorta. Porting to MicroPython on ANY platform definitely makes it easier to support other microcontrollers. But a big problem with the esp32 ecosystem was its compiler. We got our work-in-progress port compiling for esp32-S2 (after much suffering) but never got esp32-S3 to compile. And even the S2 "success" was just too hacky to feel comfortable with trying to make that a viable path.
However, the future of esp32 is all RISC-V. I would hope that would make the compiler issues simpler (but really have no idea).
AND the RP2350 has two RISC-V cores onboard.
So what works for one RISC-V should ideally be easy to make work on another RISC-V (reality is never so kind, tho).
However... my initial RP2350 work will most likely focus instead on its two ARM cores (tho we'll see).
So... yeah, the answer is: sorta.
Your second question: The Pico 2 and these dev boards have NO wifi / bluetooth on board. There is a Pico W and expectation is that there'll be a Pico 2W soon. But obviously that doesn't interest us (and again, Pico 2 doesn't have the expanded RAM).

The raised ridge is called the "ear" and is an aesthetic thing that home breadmakers kind of obsess over. First time I've gotten one to pop up like this!
And it's hard to tell from the photo, but the oven spring (how puffy it gets when baked) is huge!
