#WritersCoffeeClub 9/4. Do you have specific goals when creating a scene?
Yes? To progress the story? lol
This feels like one of those questions I should have a better answer to.😅
But it also varies? Sometimes it's to deepen character relations or give character development, sometimes to add tension or introduce an element. Sometimes I just need to get to point 'K' and I need 'I' and 'J' first for it to make sense.
I just go where the story takes me. I leave all that thinking for later drafts

1. Writing is easy, but publishing is HARD
2. Everyone can have a different writing process, and that's okay. Good, even
3. The first draft sucks. Every time. But apparently it's supposed to
4. Editing is a never-ending process. So the story is done when you decide it's done
5. Your story is worth telling, because chances are there's at least one other person who wants to read it. So write it!

Although I often feel like my characters don't talk to me if I ask them stuff. I have observe them and take notes. Like a zookeeper or something 😂

#WordWeavers 8/17. Are real people you know ever the basis for characters in your story?
No, not so far. Sometimes I'll use names of people I know in real life, but that's it.
My characters come to me as, well, people. I have to discover their personality and backstory (and name), but it honestly doesn't feel like I'm making them up myself a lot of the time. It's just who they are, and it's my job to get to know them as I write.
I know, it's weird, but that's how my brain works.

#WritersCoffeeClub 8/15. Have you used any form of Al to help in creating your work? Red line?
I use ProWritingAid to help me edit grammar and sentence structure.
My red line is when the AI goes from helping to scraping.
I did a lot of research into PWA and they swear up and down that their AI is confined to their servers, and once it gives its suggestions the data is deleted. It doesn't learn from my text, it doesn't take it beyond the PWA servers. My work is safe, and it's mine.

#WordWeavers 8/11. What makes your setting unique?
The lore/magic system (I hope lol)
My world started with a spark. That spark became the /Flame of the World/. That /Flame/ imbues all things with a /flame/ that gives it life.
The magic users of the world use their gems to access those /flames/ in order to perform their magic.
I've been told it's pretty unique. Kinda like elemental magic, but with a twist. But unique or not, I like it and had a lot of fun exploring it as I wrote.

#WritersCoffeeClub 8/7. In your writing, what is the best thing you've done (or might do) to a reader's state of mind?
I honestly just hope my books will make people happy. Give them an escape - where in one brief, shining moment they experience a world in which good triumphs over evil and love wins the day. And maybe that happiness and hope will make their real life seem less dreary.
It may be corny or cliche, but what's what reading has done for me. And that's what I hope to give my readers.

#WritersCoffeeClub 16. How do you like to end a story? Fully resolved? Bittersweet? Dark? What's your go-to?
Fully resolved.
Happy ending.
True Love conquers all.
Bad guy defeated, good guys victorious.
I may add a little bitter-sweet note -- a beloved side character dying or something. But for the most part, I will only do happy endings.
We get enough sad ones in real life.

#WordWeavers 9. Who has the best meals in your story?
I don't focus on food much in my WIP.
But the place where my characters have the best food is Whisperflame Hallow. It's a refugee camp of all things, but they have kept a whole culture's food and practices alive, in hopes that when the war is over they may help rebuild the Punitachu culture.
And turns out that their food is really good! (having magic might help with that lol)

#WritersCoffeeClub Intro and Update (my first time! Woo!)
I write under the pen name A.M. Pennyfeather(she/her), and I typically write non-spicy romantic fantasies with magic, wonder and TRUE love.
I'm currently working on my debut novels - "The Fires of Faldon" duology. It's a story about a pair of best friends who are thrust into a quest filled with magic, danger, adventure and true love, all while they try to find who they want to be while surrounded by others' expectations of them.
