It’s never not wild to me how Con rallies manage to get the crowd whipped up against stuff that’s demonstrably good for them.
I saw a clip some time back where someone, Trump or one of his ilk, had the crowd booing one thing after another, and it turned into booing medicare.
Middle-and-lower-class people booing a system that helps people like them avoid crippling or life-altering debt?
What the hell?

It's also a political system wherein certain key individuals can declare, or at least hugely affect, who else has power in other integral positions.
Which can lead to (as has done so) a chain reaction of people with similar mindsets or values or politics who hold positions of a lot of power. Who then, as said earlier, dictate how laws and regulations affect the masses, including any and all who vehemently oppose the rulings.
A few ruling many can be grossly corrupted.

Time heals a lot of wounds.
99% of people buying a Ford now wouldn't know about his political leanings then.
... same with people buying BMWs not knowing about their origins.
... or Hugo Boss.
Musk is a total ass-hat here and now. Decades after he's dead, may Tesla brands lose his stink as well?
Who knows?
But sensible or not, right now, Tesla (and other) branding can, and for some definitely does, carry implications of supporting certain politics and sentiments.

Agreed. But while fewer, they're currently the ones calling the shots that inherently affect the others.
Same deal as a few small contingents affecting abortion rights via changing laws and regulations that hem in what vast numbers of others are able to do.

I readily admit, for every Tesla I see on the road I wonder if the driver is a Musk fan and assume it's at least likely.
If I'd had a Tesla before Musk became Musk, I would 100% have returned it when his true self became evident. I cannot and will not support (or be thought to support) that kind of abhorrence. If that means going through the hassle of selling (back) "his" car, so be it.
Plenty of other EVs out there to choose among, including sexy ones, with equivalent or better range.
