I've always wondered about that, the bigger picture though. With globalization on the rise and corporations moving operations offshore, no identity is private. Post 9-11 and cyber terrorism runing rampant, breeches are very common.
When banks and insurers move operations offshore, they're essentially putting member data outside of direct national regulations and protections. Its really not rocket science.

My experience with USAA was horrible. They treat the family of the deceased as if they are just another transaction to be processed, a cold account number to be closed, and not a grieving family in need of compassion and support.
... an inconvenient liability, a set of paperwork that refuses to align, and a nuisance to be managed rather than a legacy to be respected.
... an administrative error ... a cold set of checkboxes to be ticked and a file to be archived, as if the grief of a lifetime can be resolved with a processed claim and a closed account.
... ghosts in the system ... invisible, irrelevant, and an inconvenience to the bottom line, reducing a human tragedy to a series of bureaucratic hurdles and a cold, processed exit.
... like a canceled policy—nothing more than an open file waiting to be closed, devoid of humanity or respect.
Sorry to be so negative, but its been hell since March with these people. Glad to be finally rid of them.

I really had a rough day yesterday, but it brought out the best of me. On the way home, I almost piled into a white Toyota that was stopped on the on ramp. I saw that the driver was on foot and walking back to the driver's door after shutting his hood. I waited for him as I blocked off traffic. Horns of impatient drivers were within proximity while I was telling my mom what was happening. As he pulled off, his hood popped up again and impaired his vision while he stopped again, only pulling about 10 feet from where he was. I immediately pulled closer to him and on the side, so I could let traffic through. After telling mom to hold on, I jumped out and approached the driver. He told me that his hood kept opening and it wasn't like that when he left. I assessed the situation and, as I observed, I told him that the left bolt was not in the metal frame, the frame on the left was not entirely there, and the right bolt was loose. I then scurried back to my vehicle and dug through my belongings on the passenger side. All I could think about was being decapitated if another vehicle piled into mine. I took my D Shape Aluminum Carabiner Key Hook, undid my keys and ran to his car. Epic failure. There was nothing sturdy enough to hold down his hood. At this point I new I had to search my trunk. Lucky for me, a co-worker saw me and she stopped behind me. I asked her to stay put and block traffic so I could dig in my trunk. In seconds, I found an iPhone cable, shut my trunk, and quickly tied it to his hood latch, and then around the frame of his car. He was going immediately to AutoZone. This whole time, cars were zooming by as it was slightly after 5pm.
If a moment gives you a chance to help someone, even in a small, messy, imperfect way, take it. These moments ripple further than we think. Be kind. Look out for each other. Pay it forward.

I took time out today to watch a movie and got sucked into another one. I typically don't watch tv and on very rare occasion.
15 Cameras was actually good. It was about a slum lord with hidden cameras and murders. Good horror production.
@urFRENZ, however, felt odd as it was slow and about mid way through, the movie came together. Kinda weird with a slight twist at the end.
I feel like I lost time dilly dallying around, robbing myself from time and energy. What a waste! 😒

They've mastered dealing bad hands over thousands of years and passed on that magic of profit to their lineage and partners. US debt slaves never had a fair chance of leveraging the game.
