Who has time to be embarrassed anymore? I’m heartbroken. This is devastating. Hillsborough County Schools— Tampa— will be censoring Shakespeare from here on out, afraid of breaking the very broad, vague, and extremist rules that were signed into law by Florida’s Fürher, the Terror of Tallahassee.
Tampa students will be given excerpts of the standard Shakespeare plays that US public high school students always read (Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth), instead of being allowed to read the full plays and discuss them in the classroom. They didn’t mention Julius Caesar, but that was another requirement when I was in school. Maybe they don’t teach it anymore, or maybe they decided it aligns with GOP values since Joe Biden is still the sitting president.

What I find most despicable, in all the anti-trans hatred that is currently flooding the internet with poison, is its transparency. When an open, avowed white supremacist shot up a drag show just a few short months ago, killing 5 and injuring 19, there were no urgent calls from these people to protest the great scourge of white supremacy.
They make me absolutely sick. I just hope that the children who are exposed to this bigoted hypocrisy will be able to see through it for what it really is.
