It’s funny to look back to elementary school in particular and remember how they spent SO MUCH TIME on “the (American) colonists” this and “the colonists” that, lo behold the glorious strength and perseverance of the colonists, but no one bothered to tell me until probably college that “colonist” is not exactly a good word, you know? Like, it doesn’t necessarily infer anything positive or immediately bring to mind any happy stories that are true.
