The problem is centralization. Self-hosting a centralized server just means you have to compete with the bandwidth and DoS protections of big monopolistic companies on your own... good luck with that.
Therefore the only true solution can be utilizing a decentralized network infrastructure that distributes bandwidth requirements and provides redundancy to protect against DoS attacks.
Federalization is simply not good enough.

Mit der gleichen Argumentation könnte man doch auch die Ende-zu-Ende Verschlüsselung in Signal etc. aufheben lassen. Da lässt sich schließlich auch nicht von außen so einfach moderieren. Bei Telegram geht das technisch noch viel eher.
Besonders sind gesetzliche Rahmen auch nahezu immer umstritten, weil sie von der Gesellschaft festgelegt werden. Ein Gesetz selbst ist kein Argument. Ein Gesetz wird etabliert aufgrund von Argumenten.

What I did a few years ago is writing a script to plot progress in gaming via Proton from the official ProtonDB data that was put upstream openly on Github.

You can see from about 45% being playable in a decent way in 2019, we have come to around 73% of Windows games being playable now (in about 6 years).
I'm looking forward to the next 6 years if that's the speed we're going.

Is the library only designed for clients or would it also be feasible for implementing bridges? I haven't looked into details yet whether bridges need anything more than client API. But I assume this would help with getting more messaging options onto mobile Linux devices.

In #manuskript we have modular spellchecking. It can be turned off or the language can be switched easily. You can also add words to personal lists to be ignored.
Not all software needs to be annoying. Pick #FOSS to have the choice to fix it.

Got some spare time testing around with RC1 of #Godot 3.6 which comes around with arm32 and arm64 export templates for #Linux now.
I was able to export one of my game projects to arm64, throw it on the #Librem5 and it runs perfectly fine. Of course you need to use the GLES2 renderer. But it's still amazing to see how easy it is to pull off.
Maybe we see a lot more games for #mobile Linux soon. ^^
