Some observations on swift concurrency:
- it has caught a bunch of mistakes I made
- I made a couple of mistakes trying to speed run fixes
- some of the solutions to the problems are harder to grasp than I hoped. I still google a lot.
- wish there was a “sure you are correct, but I can guarantee this ain’t ever going to happen, let me do it”
That said, I forgot how many times I used “foo!.bar” because I knew “this is never going to happen” and found it a few months later on the crash logs.

One thing I want to have before I ship Godot on iPad is the ability to publish your game to the AppStore.
I couldn’t find any OAuth-system for authenticating. Looks like I must ask people to grab a token from their developer account and paste that before I can access Apple’s backends.
That seems very primitive. Am I missing something?

Last night at the New England Godot user group I did an impromptu talk on bringing Godot to the iPad.
One topic that I went on for a while was how the smaller screen display had forced me to either redesign or eliminate plenty of configurable options in Godot.
For starters, almost every Editor tunable option had been removed. I didn’t see any reason to keep them.
Someone did point out “40 inch displays are barely enough space for me”. Made me wonder of the sanity of the effort :-)

This is by no means the most important thing about Swift, but the fact that you do not need to use semicolons to separate statements feels liberating.
After a while, other codebases just look aged.

When you have an iPad sitting next to a Mac, if you push your cursor with the trackpad on the edge, it can move to the iPad.
The question is: what sorcery is MacOS using to figure out in which side the iPad is sitting? I did not tell MacOS this at all, and it just figured it out.

I loved the FinalCut Pro UI elements for entering rotation data. One neat feature is that in addition to the swipe to choose an angle, if you long-press the dial goes into high-precision input mode.

Apple trained their models to work with the AppIntents schema (this powers shortcuts and existing Siri commands), a great way of surfacing the existing capabilities of apps and extend their reach.
While Microsoft could have done this, their equivalent frameworks are just not widely used - a phenomenon caused in part by slow upgrading windows users and in part by a void in evangelism for their Windows platform.
The core product advances are left out in the cold to fend for themselves.
