If a user is currently on custodial wallet of Satoshi, privacy sucks as is. The move to the self custody mode in the same app doesn't improve it, but will give more control of the funds.
I'm not making an argument for people to ditch better options in favor of this. I'm simply showing how it works and the flow to switch if you're already using the app.
I've got plenty of videos on how to be self sovereign with your own setup, or make trade-offs with private options like Cashu.

Just finished editing my video for Wallet of Satoshi self custodial mode.
This was my first experience using and learning about Spark as a Bitcoin layer 2.
My key takeaways:
-everything worked seamlessly
-no need for lightning channels or liquidity management
-the switch from custodial to self custody is simple (a few clicks)
-options for traditional seed or encrypted cloud backup
-still learning about Spark trade-offs, there is some trust involved, better than custodial, not as good as full self custody on chain
-Unilateral exit is possible but tools seem sparse in these early days

When I'm trying to spend time with my kids I want to remove all distractions other than the basic apps I'll need for day to day life. That's what I'm getting at in regards to doom scrolling - just flipping from item to item, being distracted from the life unfolding in front of me.

This is the reality of how YouTube works. No one sees anything unless you get them in the door. The main content of the show has not changed. I echo your sentiment on silly titles and thumbnails, but no one other than existing bitcoiners click non sensational packaging, and thus there becomes no opportunity to funnel new people to things like the tutorial library.
In short, the packaging of those videos is not meant to entice those that already know what's up. It's meant to funnel fiat normies into a rabbit hole that leads them towards best practices and tools. Every one of those clips features a call to action to visit this page and begin the learning journey of self custody, cold storage, privacy tools, running nodes, etc

I've been thinking about my life enjoyment lately and a big part of what drags me down is getting into doom scrolling.
For work I need a device that's connected to a lot of stuff, but I want to unplug outside of those times. I think my Graphene phone will be that for me, and the only social I plan on having with it is Nostr.
What other minimal things do you figure would be useful to put on it for basic non-work necessities, that also won't have me habitually looking at a screen all day? Think things like maps, ride sharing, message app for only friends and family, etc

Simplest - custodial options like Wallet of Satoshi or CoinOS (email logins)
Easy self custody - Phoenix (12 word seed, requires lightning channels), Wallet of Satoshi self custody mode (12 word seed, no channels needed, some trust tradeoffs on the backend)
Extra steps but badass/self sovereign - Alby Hub on your own node, create family sub-wallets and use Alby Go on mobile to connect them

I've scrubbed through this a bit but from what I saw it seemed to be online bickering. Maybe I missed if there was real concerns about the OS or not.
I'm not married to any one solution, and think it's good to investigate other options. I've tried Calyx as well... But I believe that project is currently not doing updates.

Lol is this a comment on the Saylor interview?
I find it funny that talking to someone = simp in anyone's head. There's plenty I disagree with when it comes to Saylor (especially the idea that the dollar and BTC will coexist peacefully, that you shouldn't use Bitcoin as money, that proof of reserves is a security risk, etc).
Oh well, you can't please everyone. I found the convo interesting nonetheless.

Surprisingly easy to install the OS. Tricky part comes in getting the right apps to make your phone work without spying on you. Will conver that in the video as best I can.
