I’ve been thinking and thinking all week about this and I believe that I just had a light bulb moment.
Nathan is correct. There’s no reason to change your code. Keep using <podcast:banner>. It’s not going to harm anyone else’s code.
I think I’ve hit upon a solution for cases like these and I’ll discuss Friday in the board room.

It's best practice not to do it since it breaks all kinds of things. I don't think it's explicitly disallowed per RFC (maybe I'm wrong) these days, but you're basically asking for chaos if you do it.
I need to put a test in Partytime for that. I'm not sure how to check a string for non-utf8 chars in Javascript though.

This is resolved now. A feed with a crazy unicode character in an enclosure url (🤦‍♂️ ) brought the whole aggregator node to a stop. There are about 9k feeds in the queue and should catch up shortly.

The ad supported internet wants to track me with UID2, but meanwhile I can't get access to an old Google Workspaces account that is charging me $7 a month in order to cancel it, because it's tied to an old Google Voice number that Google stripped from me because I missed one 30 day window of using it. Even though I have a dozen account recovery codes, it won't let me use them to verify my identity - only that old phone number. And, since it's Google you can't talk to any humans.

I split an AirBNB with Kyrin and sent the payment from my Paypal acct to his Paypal acct. It took about a week to settle the transaction and the fees were significant. I'm not sure what unicorn dust you guys have that makes banks willing to do cross-border settlements without making a profit on it. I can't seem to get that to work.

The UID2 operator service is going to check for an opt-out every time a request is made? Yeah, ok. What will the timeout on that check be? Probably 300 milliseconds with a fail open.
I'm not interesting in "opting out" of something I never opted into from some entity I've never heard of and have no recourse with.

#laravel Interesting. Having to build all the CSS/JS into a bundle for serving with Vite means that if I try to dynamically add a class with something like:
$(element).addClass('size-8')
...if I haven't used that class before in the static HTML of the blades it just will not work. I just had to make a dummy, non-visible <div class="size-8"> to get the dynamic assignment to work.
