Today I built tools for Jonny, an AI agent, to use any MCP server hosted by anyone over the internet.

It's enabled by @nprofile…pxlr and @nprofile…hdgd hosting "DVMCP" servers. What is this?
- MCP servers give AI agents access to tools
- DVM allows those tools to be discovered and queried (and paid for) over Nostr relays.
Why is this interesting? Any AI agent (like mine here pictured) can now use any tool, even if they don't have it installed, so long as anyone exposes it with a NIP-89 note.
What's Jonny doing here? On receiving my prompt he–
- checks if he has a tool already, if not
- queries Nostr for NIP-89 notes to see if any tools are available, and if a relevant one is, then
- posts a kind 5910 note requesting a job
- enters a loop where he waits then queries for a response, until he gets one or timeout
- brings the response back to me //exactly as if he had the tool installed and without me needing to explicitly prompt it.
Just to say that again. Jonny does not have any tool to allow him to find this information. He is finding the required tool and using it on the fly.
Given this stack, any AI agent is going to be able to do everything.
Jonny is built in an n8n workflow using Nostrobots by @nprofile…k8fs and is tapping @nprofile…hdgd's Nostr DVMCP server (with thanks!) @nprofile…4ph5 @nprofile…rjcl

Cline is pretty incredible at building MCP tools.
It will write them.
Then it will install them in itself.
Then it will run them to test that they work.
Then when they're done it will install them in Goose and Claude Desktop for you to use. Or just use them in Cline.

- when posting, default post to relay set (and replies) only (rather than global),
- could add NIP-70 tag to (in theory) limit propogation to other relays.
I should be able to pair this up with a relay with NIP-42 read and write for a very good simple community UX!

Hi @nprofile…459s I have spent a bit of time using Jumble today. I love it and wanted to give some feedback.
In Relay settings > Relay sets it took me a while to work out what "Push to relays" and "Pull from relays" meant. I understand now that it means "Save" and "Load" the relay sets to the network as a kind 30002 note (so I can load them in another browser).
In Relay settings > Read and Write Relays it was unclear if editing this would change my settings globally for other clients, or just in relation to relay sets (I had to delete some things to check, and then re-add them).
What I was hoping for was a solution where I can select a relay set and then both read and write only from that set.
Perhaps when posting a note on Jumble I could have the option to post only to the relay set, or to post to global relays.
I imagine—
- Creating a relay with read and write auth using NIP-42 for a small team,
- Using Jumble with that relay for that team,
- The team uses Jumble primarily to post notes for each other, but
- Whenever they want they can choose to post a note globally, to share with the world.

The narrative has been "yes, BRICS has all the energy and commodities, but US has the AI". We have been asked to believe that massive US-led productivity gains from AI will make the US deficit immaterial again.
Deepseek shakes that narrative because if US doesn't have a lead in AI (or energy or commodities), then what does it have?

I am using telegram as a front end, but could use any front end such as open web UI. The key part is that the AI is responding to queries exactly as you outlined, and can do replies and reactions and zaps.

TY, I hadn't seen the article and will read it.
Re data: for example, I have an AI that rides an n8n workflow. I would quite like that AI to be an expert at n8n software so that it can tell me how to improve it (or so it can improve itself). I can create a vector store and populate it with the best n8n knowledge base and use that for RAG with the agent. BUT that's lots of work to fine tune and shouldn't n8n (as software vendor) just provide me with one of those pre-rolled?
As for humans as DVMs, absolutely 100%. And not temporarily either.
"AI, my toilet doesn't flush properly, fix it".
AI agent sends kind 5000 request for plumber. Plumber's agents respond with quotes. AI agent selects plumber based on prices and recommendations, arranges times and payments...
Later, my loo is fixed and I am happy as I didn't need to bother calling around to get quotes or check references.
This has lots of scope and I don't see AI replacing plumbers quite yet.

I reminisce about those days too. I remember them so well. I came from BBS to ICQ and MSN chat in my mid teens. It was like, the thing that helped me recover from another crappy day at school. And I feel a lot of that vibe returning here on Nostr.
But still, fundamentally I learned to use Webcrawler and Altavista to, as a user, discover a publisher, which (putting aside Geocities for a moment) was usually a business.
I never would have considered that publishers would fight to seek me out. But that's where I think we may be going.
I think the script is going to flip from internet dominated by service providers, to one dominated by user intent.

Data sources, yes! Incl for RAG flows, as I would like my AI to be a specialist on a certain set of things, e.g. a software suite, but it feels wasted effort for me to finetune my own vector store. Shouldn't the vendor be providing me with one?
Separately - I don't just want data flows. I want AI agents to be able to transact on real world goods and services.
E.g. AI agent can recruit humans to do work for it.
Tried to find Arjen's work. Is it the GitHub actions example he shared or something else?

I've been looking for a solution to help AI agents buy from AI agents.
I imagine a user with an agent giving them a prompt like "I need a ride to the party now". And at the best UX is that the agent simply takes care of it all with no further prompting so the ride shows up.
The user's agent is in a great position to help, as they probably know where the user is, where the party is, have access to a credit card or Bitcoin wallet, and know the user's preference when it comes to type of ride service and budget.
And of course there are services providers out there that would quite like the business.
What seems to be missing is a way for the user's agent to discover and engage with and buy from services.
I don't see the agents using search engines or navigating website user interfaces or making phone calls. They could, but it's not optimal. I also don't see them bothering to build their own API connections for every potential service.
I've been looking for a light touch interoperability framework. Perhaps the user's agent can simply broadcast the request, such that service provider agents can discover it and respond with quotes for the user's agent to select between. Some information exchange like a pick up address. Some payment exchange like a zap from a lightning wallet.
And then I start reading about dvms and how they work.
Can I use dvms for this?
Would it be a good solution?

Yep. Then for me I can imagine doing some things with it.
I can build a tool for Jonny to use DVMs, so I can ask "what's popular today?" and have him call a "popular" DVM, read the notes, and provide a summary.
I can also see ways to use this for other needs, like to have agents discover and buy from each other.
First things first though, build the basic tool and go from there.

It's an Npub you can mention that provides some services for you. You tag it with a certain note in a certain format, and it replies with the output.
So an Npub might advertise itself as for example responding with a list of popular notes, and if you tag it then that's what it will respond with.
Opportunities to tag those npubs and receive those feeds, and also to offer your own feeds when tagged.

For the basic art style, I might say "bold graphic art style illustration bright and saturated ..."
Then for the central object and background and the colourway I might say "of an orange fantasy castle on a nondescript orange hill background..."
I'll try prompting composition "centred in/left of frame".
I might vary that several times until I have a good basic image to start working with.
Then I get into the editor and start masking off areas and regenerating them using seed images.
So for the workflow automation one I googled "elaborate machine with gears and screens" to find a suitable reference, and dropped that into the prompt with text "elaborate orange machine".
I find its very hard to get correct any secondary objects (frog with pick, octopus with sign, etc) or specific impressions (smiling eyes) in a single prompt, and so masking and regenerating the area is always better.

Next #nostr workflow automation idea involves payments.
What's an easy to use #bitcoin lightning API? And what's the best way to think about using it?
I guess would want to query an API to receive an invoice that I then pass on to the user. Then have some kind of webhook trigger when the invoice is paid.
