If this pattern were to take off I can see power-user centric apps for relay admin sitting alongside client apps. Which would be pretty cool for power users, and super interesting in organisational contexts.
How to you admin the whitelist? Are you editing flat files in code?
Do any relays have API endpoints for configuration which an admin app could build upon (add whitelist npubs, words, etc)?

Yet to try this but it sounds like a very cool and useful approach to crafting your own feed. TLDR, push the curation to the relay, run a dumb client.

Thanks! For clarity I was mostly thinking about the UI pattern in your client app. E.g. if my community currently in Slack has multiple "channels", I can replace Slack with a relay, and the channels with NIP-29 groups, but there may need a visual hierarchy of "Relay>Group" or at least a grouping of Relay1Group1,2,3,Relay2Group1,2,3, etc.
Just musing. Trying to figure out the correct pattern

Have we thought through relays as communities vs the other community NIPs, like NIP-71 and NIP-29?
For example, if I'm moderating my relay, do I also host a NIP-71 community on the relay, or is that redundant?

Relays as a cloud sync service for any arbitrary data, between devices.
Guaranteed persistent cloud storage not required.
Users don't need to know or care that Nostr is the transit lawyer.

Niel are there clients out there now that allow users to treat relays in this way?
I'm loosely aware that anyone can choose to treat a relay that way already. So, I'm guessing it's the client UX is the main hurdle?

Relays as communities also aligns with team relays for companies and organizations and with relays for individuals. One person or many people you have a relay for your needs.

Awesome. I think I've been missing the auto complete from my workflow entirely. And, I certainly didn't realize I could specify different models for different uses contemporaneously.

Melvin did I also hear of the idea of a proxy relay? Where you connect your client to your own relay, where that relay is just pulling and storing events from your longer list of other relays?
So rather than 1:many it's 1:1:many
Would that also allow users to get notes from the network in an async way?

Yes NIP-89 can solve the super app vs micro app problem. Every client can be a micro app. The network itself is the super app.

I've been watching for a while now but two things got me over the line. The community of builders here is awesome and worth being a part of if I can figure that out. And second the fundamentals of the platform and what that means for free and open internet. If this place keeps working it's going to be so much faster and more powerful and more resilient than the current mega corporate internet. More like the internet I grew up with. I'm hopeful!
