I find the people who try to rationalize and tut tut those who think “lesser of two evils” voting has failed.
We’re living in its complete failure. Both presidential candidates are offering a future of outrageous criminality. Even the crime of crimes: genocide.
Like the post below, it’s mainly innuendo and doesn’t grapple with the fact that for a large group of the electorate, neither candidate even partially satisfies them.

Listening to MLK’s Beyond Vietnam speech and there’s no doubt in my mind that he would have been able to articulate both the horrors of the Hamas attack on October 7th and the evil of 76 years of Nakba by Israel.
Presumably he would have been called an antisemite and “the US arm of Hamas” for it too.

You’re right though, it does seem like some skills have gotten less pronounced, I can’t remember the last time I heard about a big center who could Just Score.
On the other hand the overall vision and speed in the NFL has gone way up, and soccer seems way more even as well.

a liberal or left radicalism has mostly been stamped out in the US unfortunately over decades (lots of reasons but let’s be honest, a lot of it is j edgar hoover’s fbi) and is only now starting to show some shoots again

I thought I had a good bead on where ideologies and alliances would work out as conflict escalates until I learned about how Pakistan supplies artillery for US weapons, especially those in Ukraine, and how the US is allies with India and Pakistan and now I figure I'll just math it out as things escalate because I'm not smart enough or informed enough for that game.

If anything I feel like WW2 and the fight against fascism gave a new life to the concept of an ennobling war that I wish would stop.
I always think of Howard Zinn pointing out the crimes of the allies, the fact that fascist Spain stayed out of the war, and then pointing out this is the *best* war we've had, the *most* justified.
It was necessary, but still an evil.

There’s always been a large problem with red-baiting dems here, and candidates often have a hard time dismissing it or getting off the defensive.
Another thing is the abysmal Spanish language outreach. Rick Scott famously blanketed the Spanish language airwaves and pulled tons of ppl for himself and trump while Bill Nelson was missing

@npub1ddp…2tax @npub1ent…c89x One thing about both of those campaigns: they both ran campaigns that identified with issues that the GOP couldn’t partake of. For Gillum it was racial justice and economic redistribution, for Fried it was marijuana legalization.
For Crist it was “I’m nicer than DeSantis” which I’m sure is true but lol

The last Florida dem to do well was actually Crist’s primary opponent, Nikki Fried who actually won her statewide election to Secretary of agriculture. But there was some argument about Crist’s better name recognition, completely ignoring that all anyone knows about him is that he switched parties after being another in a crappy line of Republican Governors
