Amidst all the very real climate challenges and consumption patterns that change far too slowly, there is hope as well - in my lifetime per capita average freshwater use in the US has dropped by nearly half, and overall use has dropped despite a much larger population and economy. Behavior *is* changing, and there are many signs that are trending in the right direction.

(Risk: quality improves as well, to the point that it becomes very difficult to sort the generated stuff from the real stuff, and eventually people start asking what even is the difference and how do you define "real” …)

Prompted by recent events in my life: don’t wait until somebody leaves (your team, your org, your church, your friend group) - whether on good terms or otherwise - to let them know they are valued, appreciated, loved. The appreciation I am expressing now for a friend who is moving away would have been that much more of an encouragement if I’d shown it years ago.
The best time to let somebody know that you are grateful for them, and that they matter, and are seen, is *right now*.
