I have a friend who runs a recycling plant (outside the US), so I understand that recycling programs can be very helpful (in some places). My opposition has been based on several things. 1) That recycling programs give the false illusion that they are important for fighting global warming; and 2) the original REDUCE, Reuse, recycle concept listed those practices in order of importance. We need to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the world.

Oh, some good local news! Not surprising if you've read Frank's "What's the Matter With Kansas?" That book anticipated the failed anti-abortion election several years ago. The mod Republicans in JoCo have no patience with MAGA.
What's weird are the TV commercials around here. Th ones for MAGA candidates in Missouri are batshit insane. The Kansas Republicans are talking about the same themes, but the ads look like typical Republican ads.

Right on. It's about GOTV at this point and Harris as the candidate should help immensely. Lots of leftists don't know any Republicans, as both sides self select into their silos. My family are Republicans and Libertarians. The parents are Silent Gen who vote religiously. One sister is MAGA. Mom will vote for Trump. Dad is skeptical. One sister doesn't like Trump and the other is a non-religious Republican attracted to authoritarians. It's complicated. 1/2

I'm surprised that Trump's polling numbers remain so high. I figured it would be softer for a variety of reasons. I've moved from optimism this week, back to pessimism. Americans are so disappointing with their continued support of that asshole.

One of my left friends on Facebook posted that she thought Kamala needed a speech coach. I was like "Why?" She sounds great! She has her own style. I stream on Twitch, so I've spent many hours thinking about my own speaking style. I have lots of self-criticisms, but I live with them. It's me. I can improve things, but people tell me that I have a wonderful voice. They also said I sound like Chef John, who I had to look up. Not as sing-songy as the Chef.

So far, it looks like my daily use of my iPhone is safe from #Ai #enshittification. Like every app and products these days, my main concern is being able to hide or disable AI garbage. I don't use Siri (or similar on Androids). Mostly because I'm so old I forget Siri exists, but I'm also a librarian who wants to type my OWN FUCKING SEARCH QUERY. What I really want to see on Apple mobile devices is menus on apps and easier-to-use cameras and video.

Tech companies love to make baffling, idiotic decisions about their US and functionality. Today's example is #1Password, which decided to rename the default "Personal" vault to "Employee." I logged in this morning, saw that, and was terrified that my account had been hacked. Ironically, they justified this stupid change with a statement that this helped corporate "team" accounts. I guess my account is a "Team" account by virtue that it was affiliated with a former agency I worked with. #WebDev
