Yes so you have to swap that refund token so there are extra swap operations and round trips to the mint vs the xsr token model.
Its not fixed at 42 sats that changes since my cost is usd denominated.

Yes I know but this introduces an account effectively where are searches are linked by payment. Exactly what this is not supposed to be. Unless you top up and get a refund after every search then round trips

Wallet is also much more simple when its just 1 token per request. If you did sats the exchange rate would be changing so you would have to handle this and it would introduce more roudtrips. Whitch in this search use case would be a noticeable speed reduction less noticeable with ai. As the ai is the slow part not the extra network requests.

Xsr is more a proof on concept that you can do this custom use case for ecash. If you want to pay SATs you can use the x402.
Yeah its expensive but that's just what kagi charges me I'm making nothing on it in fact losing money on it.

Summary
This release focuses on reliability and robustness improvements across the codebase. The mint now implements saga patterns for both melt and swap operations, providing better error recovery and state consistency during these critical operations. Async melt processing has been added for improved throughput. The wallet gains a new Tor mint connector with isolated circuits support for enhanced privacy when communicating with mints, along with a MintMetadataCache that delivers significant performance improvements for key and metadata management. A new proof recovery mechanism automatically handles failed wallet operations. MultiMintWallet receives improvements including the ability to check and wait for mint quotes and configure internal wallets. NUT-11 SIG_ALL message aggregation has been updated to match the latest specification. Yes, ecash doesn’t really care what the underlying asset it. In current mint implementations this feature isn’t really exposed and it’s just tied to lightning deposits but there is no technical reason this can’t be done and in fact with the cdk grpc mint quoted can manually be marked as paid enabling this.

Cdk doesn’t have a db implementation for nip60 right now it’s not a limitation of the bindings. May not be too hard to implement with nostr-sdk. Once we have that would be easy to expose to the bindings.

Have you thought about a way to hide certain images from the olas feed. For example some images I would want to only show up with their text context (like this one) so the olas can have more of a curated instagram style of images. In the attached image I would want to hide the second row of images on olas.

If the api was expanded settings could be stored client side and included in the api request still pay with ecash and avoid the need for accounts.
Of course settings could be used to fingerprint depending on how specific or uncommon your specific set of settings is. So some loss of privacy.
