Deer don’t like to jump blind, but if they know they can land the jump they’ll do it.
It won’t stop them because they can see over it and know what’s on the other side. If you put it at an angle, or put a second row of the same fence closeby, it plays with tier depth perception.
If there is an established trail, and they see the established trail, forget it. They’ll remember that they can make the jump because they probably helped beat down that path.

I think this is my favorite way of creating sweet potato slips. It’s only May 1st so it’s not too late to start them this way, and if you are doing the “set the spuds on the counter and let them slip” method with moderate or even decent success, it’s not too late to switch out to this method for a boost. Just ordinary potting soil, barely DONT cover the spuds with the soil (let water carry some soil over them and then just leave that is fine), and then drown them with some purified or rain water. I started filing my own taxes when I was 15. Stuck with it, and grew from there. I feel like I’m semi-retired, because I’m not a wage slave, I’m my own boss, and I enjoy what I do. Since I set my own pay and hours, I can focus on other things more important than work like my faith, family or #gardening and all that combined allows me to be a more interesting and well rounded person.
I have good emotional health, because I don’t feel like a cog in their machine. What I do actually increases the GDP. Other people shuffle papers around offices all day. All that does is kill trees. I create tangible things, and enrich others and when I do that it enriches my mind. Every day is a new adventure.
I’m an #autodidact so I’ll never stop learning. I’m learning right now. I can learn on nostr, I can learn from a conversation at a restaurant. If you think you need just 4-6 years of higher education, you’re probably a boring person that needs to touch grass.
Appeal to authority is fallacy. Always has been, but some people forgot. If you need an embossed piece of paper and crushing debt to feel important, more power to ya!

I don’t know about all the vibrational part, but it makes a lot of sense to work on yourself. I think most people that are wanting to date always look the wrong place.
Influencers like Tate and Fresh & Fit.. they’re looking in the wrong place, and they’re telling other men to look in the wrong place. More importantly they’re encouraging people to be selfish, instead of working on themself.
I was listening to a podcast and Fresh and Fit was saying that most women don’t have hobbies, that they are one dimensional and lack anything valuable in their mind and then he called them all something very derogatory.
They’re looking in the wrong place for women. The women on Nostr are next level thinkers. The women at #garden clubs are amazing. In America, “Women Owned Business” is very popular right now, and many of those women have a lot of drive and are leading their type of business because their competitors are stagnant. These women are not one dimensional.
My wife is not boring, but I met her at church. I suppose you could say that our vibrations matched? We are very compatible because we already cared about the same things.
The women at bars ARE one dimensional, and that’s where Tate and Fresh N Fit are looking. They act like little boys, so it’s no wonder they find immature women.
The woman that owns a business, the one that is devoted to her church or supports a worthy cause, the woman that understands gardening and plants and trees, the woman that understands the difference between #nostr and twitter, she is thinking ahead. She is interesting. She thinks of her grand children’s future. She plants a tree knowing she will become old and die, and it will still not be big enough for her to sit under. A mature man can find that kind of woman easily, but they will only find eachother at a place where mature people spend time.

Nope! Give it a little hit of fertilizer, and some water. It will pick back up once more. Maybe 2-3 more good harvests, but if you try to replant you will get smaller leaves and less robust growth, but will not get more harvests than that. Zone 6a and farther south here, and I can’t imagine replanting at this point.

Ya that’s crazy! I think here in the US, the profit margin is not really that great. I’ve heard checkers and baggers complain when the grocery store had a 100,000 day. I know what it’s like to run a business. Clerks don’t understand net vs gross.
I’ve looked in the dumpster out back at all the food they have to throw away, I’ve paid a commercial light bill on a waaaay smaller building before, I’ve watched people steal stuff from there, I’ve counted the employees that work there and multiplied by minimum wage. A 100,000 gross day is nothing to brag about because they are not NETTING much.
I can see prices going up by 50%, that’s kinda just consumer price index. Certainly not +50% profit though! Not in this economy..

Everyone that talks about grocery price gouging needs to thresh some grain, or butcher an animal. I would not plant, fertilize, harvest, wash, sort, grind, package, ship, warehouse, market, and sell a bag of flour for $6. Yet, there it is on the shelf.
I don’t know about Canada, but here in the US we have food subsidies. Just one example, but they want poor kids to have access to enough nutrition especially calcium; it’s a good thing with bad unintended consequences. The government pays down a couple dollars on each gallon of milk, but only for mega corporations. So you go buy a gallon of beautiful raw milk from your neighbor, it’s $9. You go to the store, the watered down 2% crap with a bunch of pesticides mixed in is $4. They’re both just a gallon of milk. People think the raw bespoke milk is more because it’s designer. They’re right about half of it. The $9 one is raised with love, raised sustainably and cheaply, and doesn’t travel more than a mile before it’s in your fridge. The real difference? The other gets a $5 subsidy from the fed.

I understand what you’re saying about Russia. Georgia survived the Soviet era with their own culture but many occupied countries did not. It’s sad to see the people hurt so badly by many years of oppression. It’s also sad to see them taking it out on you. It’s not ok.
I also wonder what we should do here in the USA?
Where can I go? No government is any more holy, moral or polite than any other. There are stronger governments, and weaker governments. That is all. There is no reason to leave a strong evil and hurry up and pay taxes to a weak evil.
Some people have tried to leave totalitarian places. I think of the beautiful but really sad story of the Lykov family. They left Russia, but they died alone. They died free, but their death made no difference because they didn’t influence anyone around them to be better and to live more and love more.
We wonder why people hate us and tell us to go home to the USA. My tax dollars pay for us to be the largest exporter of war in the world (more invasions than Russia in the last hundred years). We have more foreign military bases than anybody else ever (more than the British empire). We drone strike families. We have basically purchased Ukraine with billions of dollars of debt they can never repay us. We occupied many countries in the Mideast simply because some criminal lives in that country and we want to kill him and his family.
I say “we.” I live in the USA but the USA isn’t me. I chose to stay here. I am an individual. I don’t want to do any of those things. I want to be nice to everyone I can. There are many people right here that need help.

Got mycelium? I visited my not so secret honey hole and came home with gorgeous spent mushroom grow media for #compost material. Even the bags are compostable. I think they’re made of cornstarch(?) but they turn to nothing and I’m left with amazing blocks of the funkiest smelling stuff you ever sniffed.
It rained today, and one of the blocks was apparently not so spent. Its nearly out of gas but couldn’t resist fruiting. I’m not going to be able to resist putting it in the skillet in the morning!
Last pic is what it turns to when you mix it with the contents of a chicken coop! Gorgeous! I’m really excited for next year’s #garden to try it out. (Well Derp, request timeout. Dirt pic in comments lol)

Some #dating advice for those of you unmarried. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but let me tell you a little story that happened just now:

Past her was another girl pumping gas, and looking very nice as she bent over … and took a massive hit off the fumes from the pump.

The longer I’m married, the more I realize that life is about shared experience.
The longer I’m alive, the more I realize that marriage is about personal experience.

You will always have fungus because nature abhors a vacuum. Nearly all the grow blocks are lions mane or oyster, so if they’re dormant there, they have primacy. They’re safe mushrooms. In theory, you would have less bad fungus because of the good.
The block itself is exclusively the spent grains grow media and mycelium, the “roots” if you will. The spores live exclusively in the fruiting body. If the block is dry, there is no fruiting body.
Here’s some I was going to compost, but they got rained on. Ignore the algae. You’d be getting dry blocks, and they wouldn’t be ugly like this. The white is the roots of the mushroom. Mrs Jed and I were just talking about this 10 minutes ago. School choice is basically the only map we care about these days.
I’d rather raise a future generation in some hellscape with love and respect than plant trees in prime soil and perfect water for my gentrified grandkids to sit under and talk about how much they hate me.
I can’t imagine not being the one raising my kids, teaching them life’s lessons, teaching them math lessons. They’re the only reason I #permaculture.
In the Cold War, military sites and transit hubs (especially points of transfer) were of utmost concern. Now, eh. Because terror and unrest doesn’t hit traditional mil targets.

Sadly no, I don’t believe so. This is Xanga.
Remember Xanga came before MySpace? Neither does anybody else. I don’t know if nostr will continue in primacy among this type of media, but if it doesn’t we have the leg up. Just the same way as early adopters of Xanga became the cornerstone influencers of MySpace and Facebook, we have a seamless transition. Imagine all the Karens waking up and realizing they needed 20sats to angry face a FB post. They won’t know how to fund their wallet, they probably just won’t react to any posts, and they’ll wither away societally. They will have a hard time adjusting. We are already there.
I’ve seen a lot of things come and go. Bulletin boards, and then forums. Xanga, and then MySpace. “Email” over ham radio, and then emails on your smart device. The biggest example, intranets, and then the Internet. Welcome to the future. It’s already here.

No worries! You and I are like the first customers thrown in with the devs. It’s kinda interesting to see how the sausage is made I guess… We have a rare opportunity to look behind the curtain of something, but in reality I could care less about the hash and the latest nip and all of it. I did.. most miserable experience of my life. I really like zero drop shoes, but the boots were heavier and I was always running into things. Also, when carrying a heavy load, they compress and become negative drop, which really pulls the Achilles.

Based on some recent sentiment I’ve seen, and a proportional lack of 🤙 to some people’s well deserved S+ quality notes, but meant as a low effort meme.
Honestly though. The #freeralf era may prove to do quite a bit of good for the community. We will be galvanized and stronger on the other side, and had some fun doing it. I know I’ve gained some new friends that have added greatly to my feed, as well as gained some true respect for the high quality minds around me.

See by using your logic, I’m conflating the free protocol of Bitcoin with the poor actions of a separate but related entity. Bitcoin was not the problem with Trezor/Wasabi. Trezor is. Nostr is not the problem with Primal. Primal is.
Both should be called out and discussed, without conflating them with the parent protocol.
