@npub1ykd…6j2y @npub1z9m…p50f Yeah textures are perspective correct. Though it must be said it's still possible to run into precision issues with large polygons, ruining the "high-end SGI" look.

@npub1ykd…6j2y The skies in Homeworld are beautiful and I had a somewhat broken prototype that fit the colors with a least squares solver.
Unfortunately on the N64 the interpolated vertex colors are not perspective correct (!) so it's not a great fit. Even smooth areas may need to be subdivided to make the sky not oscillate when rotating the camera. Note that I didn't try those in realtime so maybe they'd still work just fine!

I experimented with subdividing a skybox quad by hand but keeping its UVs intact. Followed by baking a new small texture in the new vertex positions to give more texels to more detailed regions in the texture.
It produces an interesting result but I find the sharp details a bit jarring. Maybe it would work better as a subtle effect.
