The risk to rug is the same between lightning and mint if neither is mine. Privacy is better with mint. I expect semi trusted brands like Alby could adopt mints as a benefit for all. But i would also expect government pressures will make large popular mints difficult, making them always the realm of the shadow people. I want to try running a node, but i hear maintaining a lightning node in good operation is hard complicated work that looses out as a profit maker. I assume these pressures have shaped Alby’s choice in creating the hub, which is not as vulnerable to government pressure?

This happens every 11 years. Yes the Carrington event is something to be considered. I don’t think we know enough to know how frequently such an event happens, it’s a black swan. You can get forecasts and updates from NOAA. Anything less than a G5 storm is pretty routine for the average Joe they don’t notice in daily life. I don’t know about the weather stuff, if it’s true, it should be able to measure an effect with the sun cycle. 11 years

A very interesting novel idea to let those who can pay market rates, compensate builders enough that lower incomes can also get an apartment at a caped rate. Three S19 for 1750 total or for each. I’m not familiar with what you are calling hosting. What does that mean. If you can use the heat for a purpose then you are much better off.
Last time I looked seriously at mining my observations were you should ask yourself if you can mine a bitcoin for less than you can buy it on an exchange . You are buying it either way, once through electricity and hardware and time and risk the other through trading currency. When I looked at it before it seemed cheaper to just buy it. But if you want no kyc and or you just want to learn something these can be added to what value you are going to get out of it that may make it worth it. I have an s9 I will still run as a space heater this winter.

So I think 3ft is more comfortable to work in. For three reasons. 1) I can do a wide stance deep squat with one foot on each side of the bed. It puts my center of gravity directly over bed and I can just bend over to weed. Then just shuffle my feet forward to work further until I’m done. 2) The average man can indeed reach into the bed at two feet from the edge squatting down or kneeling. But if your bed is 4 feet and you need to weed something in the middle of your bed at the two feet point you are more fully extended and don’t have as much strength or balance from that point. And your body will get more quickly fatigued with that reach.
Get a ruler and play with it in your house. Hold a pose at the various lengths you will need to reach for 30 seconds feel the degree of tension or relaxation. Choose the one that is more relaxed. I’m 5 feet 9 inches in height. If you are taller and depending on how much more then maybe 4 ft works.
3) Wife and kids have a shorter reach than I do. I’m still the primary worker in the garden for sure but I’m a believer that things should be family sized. My shotgun is a 20 gauge with an adjustable stock.
Obviously everything just depends. 😀

Well yes and no. The simple model might suggest that after 5 generations (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32) the generation is only 1/32 of the original. 1/32 doesn’t sound like much, But specific dominant traits which are expressed in you today because they are “dominant” would likely persist in them because they are “dominant”. Like brown eyes. Also some genes cluster because they are located closely on the chromosomes and so would inherited traits. And finally the other mathematical element of reproduction is present. Over the long term what persists depend on the selective pressures, which brings us back to the original topic. The multiplication and division gives us a lot of diversity in the 5th generation. What is the selective pressure determines what would be fit. In that generation which on the longer term overwhelms all the other math and you are left with what is fit. But if we keep using all the technological advancements that remove the selective pressures what was in the past selected for will be available to a smaller percentage of the population. But it’s exchanged at the cost of less death so 🤷.

Yes, food is important. Exercise is important. Stress is important. Stimulating with exposure is important. But disease includes inherited susceptibility and issues. Most domesticated sheep for example have lost their resilience to internal parasites and the parasites have developed resilience to dewormers used by farmers. The sheep breeds that still have resilience to parasites are those breeds that have historically been in areas with high disease pressure (typically islands) and better if they are humid where parasites can thrive, without the use of dewormer, where their humans were too poor to afford or didn’t have access or were otherwise left to fend for themselves. Genetics and selective pressures will eventually play a role.

I’ve seen drawings of the garlic very tightly packed in a ring. If you want to harvest for bulbs I think that’s too close. I would space them out a bit. If you want to just cut for the greens, or just the scapes maybe a tighter planting.
I have planted a fairly random distribution around a tree in my yard. I can’t report back too much yet as it’s still the first year. But quite a few flopped over, if they are in a dense ring I would imagine it would become quite the mess. 🤷

Sure, I understand this take on “domestication” but I meant it a bit more clinically. I don’t think this is how dogs were domesticated for example. Or in a small anarchical group of humans, where there is someone who you thought would be a friend but turned out to be a serious harm to you, you might banish them from the group to likely die without the protection and support of the group, this act “domesticated” humans by removing their genes from the gene pool and keeping someone more cooperative in the gene pool. Or a group of monkeys could do the same to anyone that gets too abusive within their group. We have been doing this for as long as the species has been able to decide who they will freely associate with. So yes I understand the use of domestication as a deliberate shaping of a “subspecies” for the benefit of another. But there is also a subtle domestication that is just apart of life and the voluntary actions of all. And it’s not just humans, any member of any species which fails their mating rituals is culled from the gene pool.

The more I learn about animal husbandry the more I have to acknowledge that humans are and have been domesticating themselves. Which isn’t entirely as bad as it sounds, necessarily. But the repeated observation of multiple domesticated species is that they become more and more dependent on human interventions (antibiotics, deworming, artificial insemenation, fences, feed troughs, incubation or hand raising of offspring, interventions during birth to save the mother or offspring) Some of these are the unintended consequences of focused selective breeding for one feature at the exclusion of all others, but others are more insidious as the farmer is just trying to protect his bottom line here and there. And for the humans species I see the interventions all around us. We use antibiotics, we intervene during child birth to save the mother and child, we of course take medications for parasites, and many other ailments. We provide IVF and other amazing treatments. We live in cities we eat at restaurants instead of gathering the food or prepairing it. I do these things too, I believe at least one of my kids would be dead if we did not do these interventions. And if we needed to use IVF I wouldn’t hesitate, and all the other things and yet I can not help but clearly see that we are weakening our species genetic pool. And in time we will become more and more dependent on these interventions for more and more people. I don’t like the implications or the predicted outcomes.

No complaints on these quick pickled beets. At 24 hours. They tasted like they came from my standard grocery jarred pickled beets. I have my own doubts as well, I generally agree with you, but what you call “civilization” may actually be a human settlement out of scale and unhealthy to the human animal. Where ancap settlements would have the freedom to disband and fracture into smaller ones. We may never see them because they don’t scale to a large measurable event. This does fundamentally mean the people in them are more vulnerable to outside aggression and servitude. I’m just also not convinced the scale of human settlements are right a

Or you could use a paid relay like wss://nostr.wine
My understanding is that primal forces you to use their relay and it’s popular so their may not be an option to change that from the app And Damus is also a very popular relay. So both of those are highly targeted right now.
You can avoid where the bots are by using relays which are a bit less permissive in who they let write to their relays like the two I highlighted above but their are other paid and WOT options. Or you can just move to relays that are less popular and so harder to target for spam.
If it helps, the spam is forcing developers to respond to it and tighten up their clients and relays. I don’t think the spam is being generated by a sovereign country but this is basically a fire drill for some malevolent agent.

I think the relay escrow makes sense. The way I would probably do it is steeper but tie it to writing to the relay at all. Maybe 5k sats to write to it. Tie it to Auth, then if you are reported as a source of spam the relay takes your sats. To write again you have to pay more sats, or up to the relay how to handle. It’s like a paid relay but if you leave you can get some of your sats back? The challenge I think is just managing who has paid what. Who owes what, And not rugging anyone.
